PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Street (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and FOSTER Zwingman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Street comes to the cage accompanied by The Truth. Zwingman has chosen Caravan Palace - Clash as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Street!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, FOSTER Zwingman!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Street fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Zwingman misses the jab.
Street walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Zwingman checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Zwingman throws a jab but it's blocked by Street.
Zwingman fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Street looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A looping hook to the body misses from Street. Zwingman does a little dance to reset his feet.
Zwingman throws a looping overhand right but Street ducks down to avoid it.
Street keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Zwingman.
Street looks to score with a jab to the body but Zwingman is just out of range.
Street throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Street fails to land the takedown.
Street wants to clinch up but Zwingman keeps it at a distance.

Street rushes Zwingman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Zwingman wants a takedown.
Street tries to work over Zwingman's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Zwingman lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Street backwards.
Zwingman scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Zwingman.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Street looking to stall.
Street trying to land knees to the body.
Street swings wildly with an uppercut but Zwingman uses good head movement to avoid it.
Street throws a head punch that misses.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Street misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Zwingman.
Street missing with knees to the body.
Street taking a breather.
Street throws an elbow that misses.
Street trying to control the position but instead, Zwingman has worked for underhooks and has pushed Street into the cage.

Zwingman has picked Street up - he's going for a ride! Zwingman dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Street is looking for a sweep. Zwingman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Street gets back to full guard.
Street is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Zwingman is looking to work some ground and pound but Street has wrist control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zwingman content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Zwingman chips away with some ground and pound.
Zwingman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zwingman with a flurry of punches that miss.
Zwingman distracts Street with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Street looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Street had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Zwingman defends it easily.

Street is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Zwingman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Street's guard.

Street actively working from the bottom here.
Zwingman winds up and cracks Street with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Street tries to get to full guard but Zwingman has control of the leg.
Zwingman is nestled in close to Street, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Zwingman drops an elbow to the side of Street's head.

Zwingman is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Street has managed to free his arm - good work.
Zwingman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Street with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Street wants to control but Zwingman is keeping busy.

Street tries to roll over but Zwingman keeps him under control.
Street on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Zwingman is nestled in close to Street, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Zwingman lands a nice short elbow.
Street moves into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Zwingman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Street has his foot on Zwingman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zwingman works his way back into a safe position though.
Zwingman is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.


Street is rocked!
Zwingman gets to his feet and stands over Street, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Street felt that one! Zwingman unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Street from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). FOSTER Zwingman!
FOSTER Zwingman really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Hopkins Athletics logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
