Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bristol Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fernandez has chosen Pantera as his entrance music. Fernandez has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bristol Cole! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ray Fernandez! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cole fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cole closes the distance looking to clinch enabling Fernandez to counter with a crisp jab. Fernandez throws a head kick that half lands.
It looks like Bristol Cole has been cut. Fernandez lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Cole backs up against the cage.
Cole tries to clinch up but Fernandez circles away and keeps his distance. Cole lands a nice hook to Fernandez's body. Fernandez takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cole fails in his attempt to clinch. Ray Fernandez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fernandez keeps the fight on the outside. Cole tries to clinch and Fernandez counters with a nice double leg into guard. Fernandez looks gassed! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Fernandez is working Cole over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Fernandez won't allow Cole to get back to his feet. Fernandez wants to control from the top but Cole keeps moving. Fernandez gets to his feet - Cole follows without any prompting. Cole tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cole fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fernandez throws a sloppy head kick and Cole moves out of range easily. Cole fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. The fight stays on the outside here - Cole looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cole tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fernandez paws at him with a jab and circles away. A punch lands to the side of Fernandez 's head but he takes it in his stride. Cole tries to clinch up but Fernandez circles away and keeps his distance. Cole tries to close the distance and clinch but Fernandez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cole connects with the punch. Cole defending well as Fernandez loads up on a big left hand. Fernandez works over Cole's head and body with a nice combination. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cole tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fernandez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Cole tries to clinch but Fernandez is having none of it. Cole doesn't manage to clinch there - Fernandez circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cole tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Fernandez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Cole punishes Fernandez's body with a nice straight punch. Danga de danga de dang - Cole scores with a four punch combination! Cole is looking to clinch but Fernandez is avoiding it.

Cole is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Fernandez swats away the attempt to clinch by Cole. Cole with a body punch. A glancing blow. Fernandez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cole scores with a nice head shot. Cole tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fernandez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Cole tries to close the distance and clinch but Fernandez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Fernandez shoots in and gets a takedown into Cole's guard. Fernandez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fernandez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fernandez prevents Cole from getting back to his feet. Fernandez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Cole keeping full guard, as Fernandez tries to pass. Fernandez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Fernandez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Fernandez advances position into side control! Cole knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fernandez on the ground. Fernandez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cole has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cole seems a little lost for a moment, as Fernandez dominates the positioning. Fernandez has knee on belly and moves into mount. Fernandez working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Cole looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Fernandez! Submission of the night perhaps?
