Honeycutt's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Riot- 2 Chainz. Chris Honeycutt could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Brian Sonnen's chin.

3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Sonnen! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Sonnen looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Honeycutt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sonnen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Honeycutt scores with a hook to the body. Sonnen takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Honeycutt pivots, looking for a leg kick but Sonnen is out of range and Honeycutt settles back down. Sonnen misses with a takedown attempt and Honeycutt connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Honeycutt scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Honeycutt instigates a clinch. Honeycutt is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Sonnen is defending well. Honeycutt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sonnen fails in his attempt to clinch. Honeycutt looks to land a body kick but Sonnen moved away. Honeycutt rushes Sonnen and presses him up against the cage. Honeycutt manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Sonnen sitting in guard, not really doing much. Honeycutt not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sonnen trying to control the position from guard on top but Honeycutt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Honeycutt keeping full guard, as Sonnen tries to pass. Sonnen trying to control but Honeycutt is working from the bottom.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Brian Sonnen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Honeycutt throws a sloppy head kick and Sonnen moves out of range easily. Honeycutt leaves Sonnen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A swing and a miss from Honeycutt. Honeycutt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sonnen. Honeycutt throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sonnen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Honeycutt avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Honeycutt fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A jab from Honeycutt finds it's way through Sonnen's defenses. Sonnen fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Chris Honeycutt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Sonnen. Honeycutt moves into the clinch successfully.

Honeycutt on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Honeycutt tries to get out of the position. Sonnen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. This has been an exciting period of action! Honeycutt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Honeycutt is pulling down on Sonnen's head. It's preventing any offense from Sonnen, at least for the moment. Honeycutt lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sonnen!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Honeycutt controlling his opponent. Honeycutt pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Honeycutt lands a nice shot to the head. Sonnen squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Honeycutt tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Honeycutt landing shots from mount. Honeycutt looking to control and managing it successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Honeycutt raining down hammerfists from mount. Honeycutt lands a nice shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sonnen shoots in looking for a takedown but Honeycutt manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sonnen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Honeycutt lands with a nice combination. Sonnen backs away looking to recover. Honeycutt jabs Sonnen right on the nose. Sonnen blinks but takes it well. Sonnen gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Honeycutt scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Chris Honeycutt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Honeycutt swats away the attempt to clinch by Sonnen. Honeycutt clobbers Sonnen with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. A left and a right from Honeycutt both land. Nice combination. Sonnen shoots in and drives through. Honeycutt sprawls well. Sonnen blocks a low kick nicely. Sonnen tries to keep at a distance but Honeycutt has taken the fight into the clinch. Sonnen is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Honeycutt gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Chris Honeycutt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Sonnen. Honeycutt turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sonnen wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Sonnen is trying to escape the position but Honeycutt is controlling the position. Honeycutt decides to stand back up. Honeycutt steps back and let's Sonnen get back to his feet. Nice takedown defense from Honeycutt. No joy for Sonnen on that attempt. Sonnen is breathing heavily. Sonnen gets caught flat footed, as Honeycutt shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Honeycutt not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Sonnen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Honeycutt is controlling him. Honeycutt slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Honeycutt won't allow Sonnen to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Honeycutt controls from within his opponent's guard. Honeycutt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chris Honeycutt. Honeycutt tries to clinch up. Honeycutt slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Sonnen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Honeycutt clinches. Sonnen can't get the takedown.

Sonnen is trying desperately to land a takedown but Honeycutt is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Sonnen. Honeycutt has hold of one of Sonnen's legs. Sonnen is fighting the takedown attempt but Honeycutt gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Honeycutt makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Honeycutt slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Honeycutt stands up from guard. Let's bang! Honeycutt rushes Sonnen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Honeycutt lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Sonnen is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Honeycutt is defending well. Sonnen tries to pull guard but Honeycutt forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Honeycutt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sonnen can do to turn this around? Honeycutt pulls guard successfully.
Honeycutt wants to hit a switch here but Sonnen passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Honeycutt there! Honeycutt wants to hold on but Sonnen pushes him away. Honeycutt manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Honeycutt pulls Sonnen in to control the position. Sonnen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sonnen trying to move into half guard but instead Honeycutt has managed to sweep! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Honeycutt controlling from the top position. Honeycutt wants to pass the guard but Sonnen is keeping the position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Honeycutt postures up and lands a big shot to Sonnen's brow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Honeycutt dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Honeycutt shoots in and bounces Sonnen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Honeycutt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
We're going to have a standup here because Chris Honeycutt wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Sonnen blocks a leg kick. Brian Sonnen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sonnen avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sonnen tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Honeycutt counters with a straight right hand. Sonnen dives in and grabs Honeycutt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Honeycutt pushes down on Sonnen's head and hops out. Honeycutt throws a body punch but Sonnen moves out of range. Sonnen walks into a stiff left hand from Honeycutt. Sonnen closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Honeycutt did well to prevent Sonnen getting side control. Honeycutt controlling the position well. Sonnen trying to control the action but Honeycutt is working from the bottom. Honeycutt is positioning himself well to prevent Sonnen advancing to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sonnen seems to be working for a kimura but Honeycutt defends the submission attempt. Sonnen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Honeycutt defends it well. Sonnen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Honeycutt trying to control here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sonnen misses with a head shot. Honeycutt uses the momentum to regain guard. Honeycutt lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sonnen! Sonnen bucks up and throws Honeycutt to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Honeycutt lands the left hand. Honeycutt pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Honeycutt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Honeycutt digs a good body shot into Sonnen's ribs. Sonnen gets the takedown into side control. Sonnen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Honeycutt misses with an elbow from the bottom. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sonnen is trying to ground and pound but Honeycutt uses the momentary lack of control by Sonnen to regain half guard. Brian Sonnen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Honeycutt is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sonnen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sonnen's back!
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chris Honeycutt. Well Honeycutt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
