Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yoshihiro Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yoshihiro Akiyama! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Norris! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akiyama misses with a series of wild punches.
Norris keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Norris scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Norris swings around for an armbar but Akiyama sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Norris's guard. Norris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Akiyama gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Norris wants to sweep here but Akiyama controlling him for the moment. Norris is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Norris is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Akiyama wants to get up but he can't break Norris's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Akiyama tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Norris. Norris tries to get to full guard but Akiyama has control of the leg. Norris actively working from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Norris wants to improve his position but Akiyama is controlling well.

Norris is looking for a triangle here but Akiyama uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Norris tries to get to full guard but Akiyama has control of the leg. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Norris manages to regain half guard. Good work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Norris dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Akiyama misses with a kick to the body.
Akiyama dips to his left and cracks Norris with an uppercut! Norris misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Norris moves out of range of the body kick. Norris slips a jab and a cross from Akiyama.

Norris shoots for a takedown but Akiyama saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Akiyama stuns Norris with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Yoshihiro Akiyama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Akiyama throws a wild body kick that Norris sees coming a mile off. Akiyama connects with a body shot. Akiyama throws a push kick but Norris slaps the foot to one side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Akiyama misses with a wild body shot. Akiyama lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Norris wants to clinch up but Akiyama keeps it at a distance. Akiyama with a body punch. A glancing blow. Akiyama lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Akiyama catches Norris with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Akiyama rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Norris moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Akiyama displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Norris moves out of range of the body kick from Akiyama.

Akiyama throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Norris is breathing heavily. Norris plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Norris tries a head kick but it misses.
Akiyama throws a head kick that misses and Norris counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Akiyama looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Norris looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Akiyama pushes Norris off looking to stand but Norris dives back in and keeps control.
Norris trying to mount his opponent but Akiyama defends it. Norris is working for a submission of some sort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Akiyama won't allow Norris to pass to mount. Norris frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Akiyama wants to try and get back to his feet. Norris is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Akiyama is forced to tap! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mike Norris! Mike Norris is the new middleweight champion!
