Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Funtik Dead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Funtik Dead will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mark John! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Funtik Dead! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! John shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Dead gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows John to score an easy takedown into full guard. John is looking to work some ground and pound but Dead has wrist control. John pushes down on Dead's leg and manages to get into half guard. Dead looks like he's trying to stand up.
Dead is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. John decides to stand and escape the position. Dead gets a clinch. John jumps guard and drags Dead to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Dead looking to sit in guard and control but John gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dead tries to land a sweep but no joy. John scores with a decent looking elbow strike. John trying to control but Dead is working from the bottom. John working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. John wants to control from the top but Dead keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. John is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. John wants to pass the guard but Dead is keeping the position. Dead keeping moving, preventing John from controlling successfully. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. John in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. John drops back looking for a leg! Dead is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dead manages to kick John off! John jumps back into Dead's guard. Dead throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Dead has his foot on John's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. John works his way back into a safe position though. John is stalling in the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. John throws a big elbow that misses. John tries to free his leg and advance position but Dead is retaining full guard. John trying to control the position from guard on top but Dead is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. John is really struggling to control Dead but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mark John. John shoots in looking for a takedown but Dead manages to keep the fight standing, pushing John's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Excellent takedown into side control there by John. John slows the pace down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dead takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. John tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no John has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! John working away. John laying and praying for a moment but Dead takes advantage and regains half guard. John with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. John sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dead defending well though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark John dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
John feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Dead is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dead is looking for a triangle but John pushes his legs off easily.
John makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. John decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dead, up you get! John drives through and clinches with Dead against the cage.
John wants a takedown but no success here.
John works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! John throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Dead keeping moving, preventing John from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. John trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Dead working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from John. Dead keeping moving, preventing John from controlling successfully. John wants to pass the guard but Dead is keeping the position. Dead keeping moving, preventing John from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Mark John just wasn't active enough. Dead shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. John manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. John wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. John pulls Dead in close to his closed guard and prevents Dead from doing any damage or advancing position. Mark John overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Dead stopping the sweep attempt from John. Dead wants to control from the top but John keeps moving. John is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. John throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
John has Dead pulled in close to control his posture.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. John scores with a takedown into Dead's guard. Dead controls John momentarily but John frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dead keeping moving, preventing John from controlling successfully. John pushes down on Dead's leg and manages to get into half guard. John is looking for a kimura but Dead is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for John to get the leverage. Dead is defending against the submission attempts here by John.
John seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Dead is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
