Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frenchy LeBatts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Bon Joy! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! LeBatts lands with a good body shot. LeBatts circles away from the clinch attempt and LeBatts counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Joy closes the distance but LeBatts moves to the side and LeBatts counters with a nice uppercut. Joy tries to clinch up but LeBatts circles away and keeps his distance. Joy tries to clinch up but LeBatts circles away and keeps his distance. Joy wants to clinch and LeBatts counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's one minute gone in the round. A shot to the liver by LeBatts. Beautiful body shot. Joy looks to clinch enabling LeBatts to counter with a crisp jab. Joy wants to clinch letting LeBatts counter with a right hand. LeBatts rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Joy holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. LeBatts swings wildly with an uppercut but Joy uses good head movement to avoid it. Joy misses with an elbow strike.
LeBatts lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. LeBatts struggles to land a body shot inside as Joy controls his hands.
LeBatts tries to work over Joy's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Joy lands a shoulder strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. LeBatts lands a shot to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Joy takes a shot to the head. Joy has hold of one of LeBatts's legs. LeBatts is fighting the takedown attempt but Joy gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Joy trying to control but LeBatts is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Joy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Joy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. LeBatts is keeping the position for now. LeBatts pulls Joy in close to his closed guard and prevents Joy from doing any damage or advancing position. Joy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Joy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Joy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. LeBatts wants to get back to his feet but Joy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Joy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as LeBatts holds on and takes a little breather. Joy sitting in guard here, content to control.
We're going to have a standup here because Frenchy LeBatts wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Joy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. LeBatts manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Joy tries to clinch but LeBatts moves out of range. Joy tries to clinch up letting LeBatts counter with a right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Joy tries to close the distance and clinch up but LeBatts swats him away and circles back towards the center. LeBatts with a body punch. A glancing blow. Joy tries to clinch up and LeBatts connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Joy shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Joy fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frenchy LeBatts dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Joy moves to clinch but LeBatts breaks away and LeBatts counters with a nice body shot. Joy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Joy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Joy has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of LeBatts's face.
Joy prevents LeBatts from getting the reversal. LeBatts taking shots to the head. Joy looking to ground and pound but LeBatts is blocking nicely. Joy landing strikes from the mount. This has been an exciting period of action! Joy thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Joy looking for a guillotine from mount but LeBatts is having none of it. Bon Joy has got the better of the ground game so far. Joy looking to control but LeBatts is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. LeBatts holds on for dear life. LeBatts keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. LeBatts tries to buck Joy off but he can't manage it. Joy controlling his opponent. Joy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. LeBatts looks a forlorn figure.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Joy dominating with strikes here. Joy raining down hammerfists from mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Joy lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
LeBatts is rocked! Joy working the ground and pound effectively.
Oh LeBatts is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Joy looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has LeBatts covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
