Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Bruens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Bruens's choice of entrance music: River Below. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Bruens! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Okabe throws a right hand that misses
and Bruens counters with a lovely straight right hand! Okabe misses with an uppercut. Okabe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bruens was covering up waiting for the punch and Okabe finishes the takedown easily into guard. Bruens looking to hit a scissor sweep but Okabe is one step ahead there. Bruens utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Okabe is pushing down on Bruens's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bruens is fighting to maintain full guard but Okabe has managed to sneak the leg through. Bruens gets full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Okabe is looking to advance position but Bruens has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Okabe wants to hold on but Bruens pushes him away. Bruens looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okabe is looking to get to half guard. Okabe is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Okabe is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Bruens misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Okabe is trying desperately to improve position. Okabe wants to control but Bruens is having none of it. Okabe is desperately trying to improve his position but Bruens has a good base and remains in mount. Okabe is working hard here to advance position. Bruens avoids the attempt from Okabe to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Okabe holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Bruens tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Bruens scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Okabe tries to lock up and control but Bruens gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Bruens scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bruens controlling his opponent. Bruens dominating with strikes here. Bruens scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Bruens content just to control the position here. Bruens wants to control the pace but Okabe is squirming around nicely. Okabe is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Okabe is looking to improve his position but Bruens isn't that keen on the idea. Okabe tries to hold on but Bruens postures up. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Bruens controlling from the full mount. Bruens tries to control but Okabe wriggling away. Bruens throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Bruens sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Okabe tries to buck Bruens off but he can't manage it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bruens throwing strikes here but Okabe is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Bruens breaks from Okabe's wrist control and lands an elbow. Okabe is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Okabe is looking to improve his position but Bruens isn't that keen on the idea. Okabe just holding on. Bruens controlling the pace for now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bruens looking to finish with strikes here!
Okabe gets back to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Okabe wants to improve his position but Bruens is controlling well.
Okabe is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Bruens jumps into side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul Bruens dominated that round. That's time! Okabe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Okabe misses with a lunging right hand
and Bruens counters with a leg kick. Bruens moves away from the strike by Okabe. Okabe just misses with a punch to the body.
Okabe throws a lazy uppercut
and Bruens counters with a good low kick that Okabe was not able to check. Bruens buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Bruens clinches up against the cage. Okabe looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Bruens's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Okabe shoots in for a takedown but Bruens shows good takedown defense. Bruens throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okabe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Okabe trying to control but Bruens is working from the bottom. Okabe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bruens not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Okabe in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bruens looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Bruens looking to control.
Okabe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bruens has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Okabe has managed to get both his arms back between Bruens's legs - danger averted. Bruens wants to sweep but no luck. Bruens is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Paul Bruens has got the better of the ground game so far. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Okabe's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Okabe wants to control from the top but Bruens keeps moving. Okabe with a flurry of punches that miss. Okabe trying to control but Bruens is working from the bottom. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bruens is looking for a triangle but Okabe pushes his legs off easily.
Okabe content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Bruens manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Okabe manages to regain half guard. Good work. Okabe holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Okabe trying to get back to full guard but Bruens takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Okabe is squirming around, avoiding Bruens's attempts to control the action. Bruens avoids the attempt from Okabe to control. Okabe is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Bruens cracks Okabe with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Bruens connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Okabe wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bruens.
Okabe wants to control but Bruens is having none of it. Okabe gets back to half guard. Okabe is refusing to be controlled, as Bruens sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Okabe tries to get to full guard but Bruens has control of the leg. Okabe pushes Bruens off looking to stand but Bruens dives back in and keeps control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Okabe is trying to control Bruens's posture but Bruens avoids it. Bruens wants to lay and pray for a moment but Okabe keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Paul Bruens will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Okabe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bruens moves away. Okabe misses the body punch and Bruens counters with a nice body shot. Bruens moves away from the strike by Okabe. Bruens slips under a jab from Okabe. Bruens feints and then cracks Okabe's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Okabe down. Bruens throws a front kick aimed at Okabe's knee but Okabe avoids it well. Okabe moves out of range of the leg kick from Bruens. Okabe shoots in looking for a takedown but Bruens manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Okabe's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Bruens misses the body punch and Okabe counters with a lovely shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okabe swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bruens tries for a takedown but Okabe sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Bruens tries to clinch there but Okabe circles away.
Good standup being displayed there by Okabe as he connects with a hook. Okabe fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Bruens throws a chopping leg kick but Okabe manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Bruens staying out of range there. Bruens misses with a body shot.
Okabe looks to land a right hand but Bruens moved out of range. Kenji Okabe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Okabe takes a swing at Bruens's ribcage but misses. Okabe connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Okabe lands with a straight right. Bruens didn't see that one coming. Okabe lands a right hook to the body.
Bruens just misses with a punch to the body.
Okabe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bruens to the ground. Okabe is now in Bruens's guard. Bruens bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Okabe's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Bruens trying to control but Okabe is working from the bottom. Okabe throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Bruens not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Okabe is pulling down on Bruens's head. It's preventing any offense from Bruens, at least for the moment. Bruens looking to pass the guard. Bruens wants to control from the top but Okabe keeps moving. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul Bruens was stalling too much, according to the referee. Bruens throws an off balance right hand
and Okabe counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Okabe lands a jab to the nose. Okabe has his takedown stuffed letting Bruens counter with a right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenji Okabe. That's going to take a lot out of him. Okabe has his takedown stuffed and Bruens counters with a thumping low kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bruens swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Okabe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bruens manages to avoid it. Bruens tries to clinch there but Okabe circles away.
Okabe changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bruens looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bruens tries to get back to half guard but can't. Bruens is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bruens moves into full guard.
Okabe postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! Kenji Okabe showed his dominance in that final round. I think Bruens has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
