Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Mert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giant Wang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mert comes into the arena with Pregador Luo - Bate Pesadão blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Mert! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Giant Wang! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mert will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Wang scores a takedown into full mount! The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Wang gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Mert lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Mert has his takedown stuffed and Wang counters with a two punch combo. Mert is breathing heavily. Mert on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Wang gets the takedown into side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mert being controlled for a moment. Wang tries to move to mount but Mert blocks the move with his legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wang decides to take the fight back to the feet. Wang darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Wang looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mert with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Still in half guard, Wang seems content to control. Wang is working for a submission of some sort.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Wang looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. It looks like Wang might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Mert has hold of Wang's hands but Wang slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Wang content to control rather than advance. Wang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mert. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wang tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mert knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Giant Wang was stalling too much, according to the referee. Wang feints and as Mert raises his hands in defense, Wang changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wang seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Wang with a nice head shot there. Wang controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Wang is working Mert over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wang seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wang tries to free his leg and advance position but Mert is retaining full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Giant Wang dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Mert shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wang sprawls well. Wang wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mert gets slowly back to his feet. Mert is looking to clinch but Wang is avoiding it.
Wang darts in and clinches Mert up against the cage. Wang breaks the clinch.
Matt Mert is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mert tries a head kick but it misses.
Wang swings away with a leg kick that misses. Mert looks to clinch and Wang counters with a shoot takedown. Mert fights it but they end up in guard. Wang stands up from Mert's guard - Wang perhaps looking for a knockout. Wang scores a takedown into full mount! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wang lands a nice shot to the head. Wang content just to control the position here. Wang lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Wang lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mert hang on? Wang jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Mert is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mert and Wang has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wang decides to stand back up. Wang steps back and let's Mert get back to his feet. Wang pushes Mert up against the cage in a clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wang manages to break the clinch.
Wang shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mert manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Wang controls from within his opponent's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wang must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Giant Wang. Wang fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wang changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mert looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Wang tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wang has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Wang has been the more effective fighter overall so far. A lull in the action here as Wang stalls from top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wang is trying to get an arm triangle but Mert is defending well. Wang decides to take the fight back to the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Giant Wang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Mert's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Wang keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wang landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Mert is trying to maintain the position but Wang is very close to passing his half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wang sitting and controlling from the half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Giant Wang was stalling too much, according to the referee. Wang gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Wang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mert has his takedown stuffed and Wang decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mert's guard. Wang is pushing down on Mert's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mert is fighting to maintain full guard but Wang has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wang wants to free his trapped foot but Mert is holding on for dear life with his legs. Wang with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Mert is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wang scores with a couple of nice shots. Wang controlling the action here.
Giant Wang has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Wang manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mert on his heels. He'll look to pass Mert's guard now, I'm sure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wang stands up and waves to Mert to follow him. Wang has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wang gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Wang controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Wang's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Mert is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Giant Wang wasn't active enough on the ground. Wang gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Mert tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wang smiles and moves away.
Wang closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mert did well to prevent Wang getting side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wang content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
And that's the end of the fight! Giant Wang comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Wang has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
