Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Mazyck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Maci (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremy Mazyck! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mario Maci! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maci scores a takedown into full mount! Maci jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Mazyck is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mazyck and Maci has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Mazyck wants to control but Maci postures up. Mazyck gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Mazyck has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Maci is working away from the top position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mazyck avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Maci. Mazyck is pressing down on Maci's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Mazyck is breathing heavily. Maci pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mazyck is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maci wants to control from the top but Mazyck keeps moving. Mazyck keeping full guard, as Maci tries to pass. Maci trying to control but Mazyck is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mario Maci. Mazyck avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Maci throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mazyck tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Maci is in Mazyck's guard. Maci loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mazyck wants to sweep but no luck. Maci trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Maci really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mazyck. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Maci seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Mazyck is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Maci is aware though and is defending well. Maci is looking to stand up but Mazyck won't let him. Mazyck keeping full guard, as Maci tries to pass.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Maci stays in close to Mazyck's body and controls the position. Maci must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Maci is working Mazyck over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Maci wants to control from the top but Mazyck keeps moving. Mazyck preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Maci trying to control but Mazyck is working from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mario Maci hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Maci drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mazyck is trying to improve his position. Maci wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mazyck, who protects the arm well. Mazyck manages to get back to half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Maci thows a huge punch but Mazyck dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maci looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mazyck tries to sprawl but Maci drives through with a takedown into half guard. Maci is trying to control the action in half guard but Mazyck is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Mazyck is trying to stand back up but Maci is controlling him

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Maci slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mario Maci hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Mazyck tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Maci changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Maci closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mazyck quickly recovers to half guard. Maci is taking a breather. Mazyck says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Maci throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Maci tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mazyck controls his leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maci is working for a kimura here but Mazyck manages to reverse the position and he's now in Maci's guard.
Maci is trying to control the position but Mazyck postures up. Maci keeping moving, preventing Mazyck from controlling successfully. Mazyck is looking to work some ground and pound but Maci has wrist control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maci has Mazyck pulled in close to control his posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mario Maci was stalling too much, according to the referee. Mazyck fails in his attempt to clinch. Mazyck shoots in looking for a takedown. Maci tries to sprawl out of it but Mazyck keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maci manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Maci takes the fight into the clinch. Maci breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mazyck looks like he's trying to stand up.
Mazyck is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Maci's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Maci's back! Mazyck keeps control of the position as Maci tries to break free.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Maci looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mario Maci showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Maci darts in and clinches Mazyck up against the cage. Maci gets a trip takedown into half guard. Maci wants to take a breather but Mazyck is having none of it. Maci is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mazyck is just riding it out for now. Maci eventually gives up the hold. Maci is stalling here. Mazyck is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Maci seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mazyck has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mazyck moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Mazyck decides to stand back up. Mazyck steps back and let's Maci get back to his feet. Mazyck takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Maci shoots for a double leg takedown but Mazyck sprawls well. He's pushed Maci's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Mazyck shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Maci as he jumps to the side. Nice takedown defense from Mazyck. No joy for Maci on that attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mazyck tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mazyck closes the distance looking to clinch and Maci counters with a nice body kick.
Maci shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Maci trying to control but Mazyck is working from the bottom. Mazyck looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maci trying to control the position from guard on top but Mazyck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Mario Maci hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Maci fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jeremy Mazyck is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mazyck cracks the inside of Maci's front leg. Maci changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mazyck tries to avoid it but Maci manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mazyck to the ground. Mazyck escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jeremy Mazyck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mario Maci. Mazyck misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Maci fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Maci stuffs the takedown attempt from Mazyck. Mazyck gets slowly back to his feet. Mazyck wants to slow Maci down by chopping away at his legs. Maci displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Mazyck stalks Maci and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Maci's face. Maci staggers backwards, shaken. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Maci scores with a kick to the body.
Maci throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mazyck's waist but Mazyck gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maci off to one side. Jeremy Mazyck has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mario Maci is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Maci showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mazyck.
And that's the end of the fight! Mario Maci comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Maci has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
