The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Funkyama connects with a leg kick. Tarver looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Tarver shoots in looking for a takedown but Funkyama manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tarver's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Funkyama lands a nice shot that snaps Tarver's head back.
Tarver fails to land the takedown.
Tarver shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyrone Tarver. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tarver takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Funkyama throws a head kick that half lands.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
