5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Franz Weimar! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ondrus slaps away a takedown attempt from Weimar, before circling back to the center of the mat. A jab from Weimar misses. Ondrus stuffs the takedown. A head kick misses from Weimar. Ondrus shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Weimar is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ondrus sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Petr Ondrus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Franz Weimar. Weimar shoots in but Ondrus avoids the takedown attempt easily. Ondrus defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Weimar. Weimar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ondrus but Ondrus pushes him off and we're back to square one. Weimar shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ondrus defends it nicely. The fighters circling - Ondrus throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Ondrus shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Ondrus is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Ondrus has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Weimar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ondrus defends well. Weimar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ondrus manages to get himself to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ondrus is on top in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ondrus throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Weimar works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ondrus trying to control the position from guard on top but Weimar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Weimar is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ondrus is aware though and is defending well. Ondrus distracts Weimar with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Ondrus looking to control the position here, rather than advance. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ondrus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ondrus throws a big elbow that misses. Ondrus stops Weimar from standing up. Ondrus trying to control but Weimar is working from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Weimar manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Weimar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Weimar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ondrus tries to avoid it but Weimar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ondrus to the ground. Ondrus escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ondrus connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Weimar misses with the combination.
Weimar tries to keep at a distance but Ondrus has taken the fight into the clinch. Weimar's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Weimar blocks an elbow strike from Ondrus.
Ondrus gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ondrus is looking to take a break and control but Weimar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ondrus seems to be working for a kimura but Weimar defends the submission attempt. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ondrus landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Weimar is trying to stand back up but Ondrus is controlling him

Weimar wants to get back to full guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Weimar looking for subs from the bottom but Ondrus mounts him! Ondrus with the ground and pound from mount. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Weimar is trying to stand up. Ondrus has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Weimar's face.
Weimar is rocked! Ondrus postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Weimar bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Ondrus and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Petr Ondrus! Petr Ondrus retains his middleweight title! After winning the bout, Petr Ondrus thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
