Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Bryant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thomas Bryant! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Dean Styles and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rutten. Rutten shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Bryant actively working from the bottom here. Bryant wants to control but Rutten is keeping busy and won't allow it. Rutten is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Bryant is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rutten is trying to work for a kimura but Bryant is defending well.
Bryant regains full guard. Nicely done. Bryant trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Rutten might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bryant working a defensive guard here.
Rutten drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bryant looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bryant looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bryant!
That's one minute gone in the round. Rutten is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Bryant is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Bryant thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Bryant throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Rutten because Bryant loaded up on that one. Rutten tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rutten is working hard here to advance position. Bryant get's back to his feet. Rutten fails with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Rutten or perhaps it was just good defense by Bryant which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Rutten. That's going to take a lot out of him. A momentary lapse in concentration from Bryant enables Rutten to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bryant manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Rutten drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bryant dives on top into guard. Rutten on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rutten tries to get out of the position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rutten is looking for a triangle but Bryant pushes his legs off easily.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bryant can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Rutten looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bryant has picked Rutten up and slammed him! Rutten can't keep hold of the triangle and Bryant manages to pass to side control! Rutten tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Bryant looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Rutten tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bryant wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Rutten is trying to work for a sweep but Bryant has mounted him! Rutten is looking to improve his position but Bryant isn't that keen on the idea.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rutten looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Rutten will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Bryant has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bryant lands a body shot. Rutten is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bryant is defending well. A frustrated look appears on Bryant's face as he tries to break the clinch. Bryant gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rutten.
Bryant jumps into guard, dragging Rutten to the mat.
Bryant will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Rutten postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bryant is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rutten, into his guard. Rutten had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bryant defends it easily. Rutten looking for subs off his back but Bryant has passed one foot through into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rutten actively working from the bottom here. Rutten looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Bryant is trying to control. Rutten wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Rutten looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Bryant is pressing down on Rutten's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rutten is holding on for now. Rutten is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rutten with the active half guard here but Bryant passes nicely into side control. Bryant wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rutten keeps working. Bryant passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Rutten! Bryant looking to ground and pound but Rutten is blocking nicely. Bryant trying to control but he's not successful this time. Rutten can't escape the position.
Bryant misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Bryant prevents Rutten from getting the reversal. Bryant can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rutten is looking to escape.

Rutten wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. You can see the frustration on Rutten's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Rutten gets a double leg takedown into Bryant's guard. Bryant is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rutten is controlling him. Rutten stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bryant swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rutten got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bryant has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rutten has managed to get both his arms back between Bryant's legs - danger averted. Rutten postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bryant is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rutten, into his guard. Rutten throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bryant escapes and throws Rutten's legs to the side, diving into side control! Rutten is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rutten tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Bryant presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Rutten blocking the ground and pound. Rutten tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. John Rutten overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rutten knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bryant on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Poor strikes thrown by Bryant there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Bryant takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Rutten wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bryant.

Rutten tries to escape but Bryant has the hooks in and won't let him break free. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bryant is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rutten has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Rutten is trying to break free.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rutten breaks Bryant's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Rutten has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rutten drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rutten jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Rutten thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
