Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roberto Colon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bartosz Nokal! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Colon shoots in for a takedown but Nokal shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Nokal drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Nokal wants to control for a moment but Colon uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Nokal thows a huge punch but Colon dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Colon looking for submissions off his back. Nokal not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Colon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nokal pulls his head out easily. Colon looking for submissions off his back. Colon gets full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nokal trying to control but Colon is working from the bottom. Nokal wants to stand but Colon is controlling his posture from full guard. Colon throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Nokal escapes and throws Colon's legs to the side, diving into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nokal wants to control for a moment but Colon uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Colon looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Colon gets full guard. Colon keeping full guard, as Nokal tries to pass. Colon keeping moving, preventing Nokal from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bartosz Nokal dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Nice body punch from Colon. Colon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. BOOM! Colon connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Roberto Colon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Colon throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Colon raining down shots from the mount! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Colon lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Nokal hang on? Nokal is in a horrible position here. Colon smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Nokal is rocked! Colon is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Nokal is surviving well by controlling Colon's body position as best he can. Colon postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Nokal in real trouble here! The ref calls for Nokal to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
