Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brian Williams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anthony Mael! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams lands a nice shot that snaps Mael's head back.
Williams scores with a hook. Williams throws a series of punches but Mael avoids them all with ease. Mael shoots for a takedown but Williams saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Williams throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Mael defending well as Williams loads up on a big left hand. Williams lands with a nice body punch. Williams throws a right and a left that both miss. Williams throws a right and a left that Mael avoids nicely. Mael looking to score a takedown here. Williams is defending well but Mael drives through and ends up in Williams's guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Williams keeping moving, preventing Mael from controlling successfully. This has been an exciting period of action! Williams is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Mael wants to pass the guard but Williams is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Williams avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Mael slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Anthony Mael. Mael throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Williams's waist but Williams gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mael off to one side. Williams misses with a wild combination.
Williams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mael moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mael throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mael misses with a straight left. Mael attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Mael goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Mael fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Brian Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Mael. Williams clinches with his opponent.
Mael is looking to break free of the clinch but Williams has double underhooks. Mael tries to break free but Williams pushes him back against the cage. Williams can't break the clinch.
Mael changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Williams fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Williams tries to bum rush Mael with a series of wild strikes but Mael uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams cracks Mael with a good jab. Mael throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Mael looking to land some kicks to the body here.

A shot to the liver by Williams. Beautiful body shot. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Williams moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Mael walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Williams digs a good hook to Mael's body.
Mael walks into a jab. Mael showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Williams.
Williams is breathing heavily. Mael throws a hook but Williams avoids it easily. Williams misses with a two punch combination.
Williams will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Williams throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mael misses with a body kick. Mael throws an overhand right that lands on Williams's shoulder, as Williams tries to avoid the shot. Williams lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Williams looks to throw the jab but Mael is out of range. A clash of legs there as Williams blocks the low kick. Mael takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mael looks to score with a jab to the body but Williams is just out of range. Williams misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mael fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Williams sprawls well initially but Mael persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Mael is figuring out what he wants to do next. Williams trying to control from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Anthony Mael hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Mael avoids a punch combination nicely.
Williams keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Williams throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mael stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Williams looks to throw the jab but Mael is out of range. Mael shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Williams is looking to control Mael's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Williams avoid being mounted? The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Mael in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Williams tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Mael!
