Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Duarte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Waters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Waters has chosen Hip Hop as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcos Duarte!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derek Waters!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Waters tries to keep at a distance but Duarte has taken the fight into the clinch.

Duarte lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Waters wants to control but Duarte is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duarte throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Waters sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Waters fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Duarte.
Duarte looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Waters lands with a good body shot.
Duarte ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Waters moves away.
Waters tries to clinch up.

Duarte looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Waters is fending him off so far but Duarte persists. Nope, Waters circles away and we're back to standing.
Duarte tries to score a power double leg takedown but Waters sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Duarte somewhat.

Waters tries to close the distance and clinch up but Duarte swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The fighters circle momentarily. Waters darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marcos Duarte.
