The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilkov clinches up against the cage.
JC tries to stall but Gilkov uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

JC is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gilkov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gilkov's back!
JC has the hooks in. Gilkov is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
JC is trying to stick to Gilkov's back but Gilkov is turning into JC. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in JC's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Gilkov.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
JC has a takedown stuffed.
JC throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gilkov's waist but Gilkov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing JC off to one side.
Gilkov clinches up with JC and pushes him back against the cage.
The is referee keeping an eye on Gilkov - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Gilkov tightens his grip and picks JC up, before dumping him to the ground. JC manages to land in guard.
JC controls Gilkov momentarily but Gilkov frees himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gilkov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by JC, who protects the arm well.
JC is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Gilkov off and has taken his back!
You can see the frustration on Gilkov's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
JC has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Gilkov has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
