Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alou Diavolinho! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Haley! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haley will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Diavolinho moves into the clinch. Diavolinho is trying to break free. Haley tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Diavolinho just stands there and leans against the cage. Diavolinho tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Diavolinho tries to circle away but Haley has him pinned against the cage. Haley jumps into guard, dragging Diavolinho to the mat.
Haley is looking for a triangle but Diavolinho pushes his legs off easily.
Haley is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diavolinho defends well. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Diavolinho tries to stand but Haley is controlling from the bottom. Diavolinho postures up.
Haley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Diavolinho manages to get himself to full guard.
Haley is working Diavolinho over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Diavolinho works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Haley stops Diavolinho from standing up. Diavolinho on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Diavolinho tries to get out of the position. Haley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Haley drops back looking for a leg! Diavolinho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Diavolinho manages to kick Haley off! Haley jumps back into Diavolinho's guard. Haley landing some decent shots from guard. Haley working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Haley trying to control but Diavolinho is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Haley stands up over Diavolinho, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diavolinho wants to stand but Haley is controlling the position. Haley sitting in guard here, content to control. Haley postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Haley drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Haley seems to have locked his on tight now - Diavolinho screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Haley, as he picks up the win!
