The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yanenko misses with a takedown
and Carter holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Carter can't break the clinch.
Carter throws a punch but it's blocked by Yanenko.
Yanenko is trying to pull guard but Carter has him pressed against the cage.
Yanenko successfully pulls guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Yanenko is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yanenko is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yanenko doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Carter counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Danny Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emil Yanenko.

Carter is looking to advance position but Yanenko has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
