Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Naves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaime Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Naves throws a front kick that sends Carvalho stumbling back into the cage.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Carvalho is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Naves is just riding it out for now. Carvalho eventually gives up the hold.

Naves remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Carvalho fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Naves to the ground. Carvalho is now in Naves's guard.
Carvalho working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Naves is looking for a triangle here but Carvalho uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Carvalho goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Naves has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Carvalho but great work by Naves.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lucas Naves.
