Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger De La Hoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez comes to the cage accompanied by UFC - Face the Pain. De La Hoya has chosen The Game - My Life ft. Lil Wayne as his entrance music. Roger De La Hoya will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roger De La Hoya! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.

De La Hoya tries to avoid it but Velasquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De La Hoya to the ground. De La Hoya escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Velasquez tries to keep at a distance but De La Hoya has taken the fight into the clinch. Velasquez takes a knee to the side of the body. Velasquez is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. De La Hoya unloads a knee to the mid-section. Velasquez lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Velasquez turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. De La Hoya is looking for a sweep. Velasquez connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused De La Hoya some visible discomfort.
Velasquez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

De La Hoya is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Velasquez defends well. Velasquez works over De La Hoya with some ground and pound from guard. This has been an exciting period of action! De La Hoya keeping moving, preventing Velasquez from controlling successfully. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! De La Hoya pulls Velasquez in close to his closed guard and prevents Velasquez from doing any damage or advancing position. De La Hoya trying to keep a closed guard but Velasquez is proving a slippery customer.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. De La Hoya with a flurry of punches that miss. Velasquez tries to land a sweep but no joy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
