The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cek avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cek scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Mcdaniels is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Cek jumps into side control! Cek is staying tight to Mcdaniels's torso, preventing him from escaping. Cek prevents Mcdaniels from escaping the position. Mcdaniels trying to remain calm as Cek controls from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cek working the body and head with strikes. Mcdaniels is looking to get back to his feet here but Cek is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mcdaniels's back. Cek has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mcdaniels is in bad spot here.
What can Mcdaniels do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Cek lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

I looks like Cek might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
