Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick lands from Gvf that sends Gazzola to the canvas. Gazzola tries to scramble back to his feet but Gvf brings him back down into side control.
Gazzola is rocked!
It looks like Lennon Gazzola has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Gazzola is looking to reverse the position.
Gazzola is still in real trouble! Can Gvf finish him?
Gvf is trying to ground and pound but Gazzola uses the momentary lack of control by Gvf to regain half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gazzola can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gvf wants to get back to his feet.
Gvf wants to free his trapped foot but Gazzola is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Gvf wants to clinch but Gazzola slips to the side
and Gazzola counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gazzola content to control rather than advance.

Gvf is breathing heavily.
Gazzola is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Gazzola decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Gazzola throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gvf was covering up waiting for the punch and Gazzola finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Gazzola decides to stand and escape the position.

and Gazzola counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gvf's guard now.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gvf throws a sloppy head kick and Gazzola moves out of range easily.
Gazzola closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gvf to the mat! Gvf manages to get full guard.

Gazzola seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gazzola perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gvf tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Gazzola counters with a shoot takedown. Gvf fights it but they end up in guard.
Gazzola gets to his feet. Gvf looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Rock Gvf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gvf tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gvf throws a head kick but Gazzola moves out of range.
Gazzola swats away the attempt to clinch by Gvf.
Gvf wants to clinch but Gazzola slips to the side
and Gazzola counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gvf won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gazzola decides to stand back up.
Rock Gvf is winning the standup battle so far.
Gvf looks to clinch
and Gazzola counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gazzola is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Gazzola stands and steps away. Gvf gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gazzola shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gvf's guard.
Gvf is rocked!

Oh Gvf is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gazzola slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Gazzola is working to tighten is grip on Gvf's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Gvf has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Gazzola is really squeezing tight and eventually Gvf passes out! Gazzola breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
