Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Penties!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Bashor!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penties misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Penties goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Jason Bashor has been cut.
Bashor drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Bashor takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Penties slaps away a takedown attempt from Bashor, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Penties throws a series of punches but Bashor moves out of range.
Penties closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Penties goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Bashor is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Penties misses with a takedown attempt - Bashor sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bashor is still on wobbly legs! Can Penties finish him?
Bashor dives in and grabs Penties's left leg, looking for a takedown. Penties pushes down on Bashor's head and hops out.
Bashor seems to have recovered his senses.
Bashor takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Whack! Penties lands a heavy head kick that drops Bashor. The ref tackles Penties to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Bashor was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Ben Penties!
