Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacks Sole! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Naser Al Shami! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Al Shami rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sole moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sole has closed the distance and engaged Al Shami in a clinch.
Al Shami wants a takedown but no success here.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Al Shami tries to score a body lock takedown but Sole shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Sole is pressed up against the cage. Al Shami has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sole down to the mat. Sole avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Jacks Sole has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Naser Al Shami. Sole dodges the punch combination from Al Shami.
Al Shami walks forward, straight into a front kick from Sole. Al Shami scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sole throws a series of punches but Al Shami avoids them all with ease. Al Shami swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Sole counters with a nice body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sole scores with a jab to the body. Al Shami looks gassed! Sole looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Sole dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Sole catches Al Shami napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Al Shami to the canvas!
It looks like Naser Al Shami has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Sole makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Sole has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sole is working Al Shami over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Sole wants to control from the top but Al Shami keeps moving. Sole passes easily into side control. Nice work. Sole trying to control the action but Al Shami is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Al Shami takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sole cracks Al Shami with an elbow. That is naaassty. Sole in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Al Shami is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jacks Sole! A very excited looking Jacks Sole made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
