And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ricky Shipman!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lesnar gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lesnar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shipman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Shipman trying to control but Lesnar is working from the bottom.
Shipman controls from within his opponent's guard.
Shipman wants to pass the guard but Lesnar is keeping the position.

Lesnar wants to stand up but Shipman is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ricky Shipman was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Lesnar throws a sloppy head kick and Shipman moves out of range easily.
Shipman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Shipman has his takedown stuffed
and Lesnar counters with a left to the body.
Lesnar is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Shipman shoots in and drives through. Lesnar sprawls well.

Shipman wants to control but Lesnar is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lesnar in particular looking to stall.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shipman can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Lesnar postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Shipman to stand up.
Lesnar swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lesnar tries to close the distance and clinch but Shipman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lesnar closes the distance and pushes Shipman back into the cage.

Shipman is trying to push Lesnar away but Lesnar has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Lesnar successfully pulls guard.
Lesnar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shipman is one step ahead there.

Lesnar wants to get back to his feet but Shipman is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Shipman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lesnar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shipman has Lesnar in his guard.

Lesnar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lesnar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Lesnar throws a wild body kick that Shipman sees coming a mile off.
Shipman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lesnar sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Lesnar decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Lesnar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shipman circles away quickly and effectively.

so Shipman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

I would just about give that final round to Ricky Shipman.
Well Lesnar has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
