PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dunham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Razor Ramon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dunham comes to the cage accompanied by Loser - Beck. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frank Dunham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Razor Ramon!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramon misses with a shot to the body
and Dunham counters with a right hand to the body.
Ramon keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ramon takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Ramon throws a leg kick which misses Dunham's front leg but catches the back leg as Dunham tries to avoid it.
Ramon misses with a low kick.
Dunham throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ramon throws a sloppy head kick and Dunham moves out of range easily.

Dunham gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Dunham wants to get back to his feet but Ramon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dunham scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Ramon fails with the takedown.
Dunham connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Ramon momentarily.
Ramon swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Dunham counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Ramon thinking.
Ramon rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Dunham counters with a one-two to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ramon gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Dunham.
Dunham works over Ramon's head and body with a nice combination.
Dunham is breathing heavily.

Ramon moves into range and clinches up with Dunham.

Ramon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A nice combination there by Dunham.
Ramon avoids the body shot from Dunham.
Dunham shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ramon sprawls well. Ramon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dunham gets slowly back to his feet.

Ramon pushes Dunham up against the cage in a clinch.

Dunham wants to break the clinch but can't.
Dunham trying to stall but Ramon improves his position.
Maybe Dunham would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.
Ramon throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Dunham blocks it with crossed arms.

Ramon manages to break the clinch.
Frank Dunham is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ramon wants to clinch up but Dunham keeps it at a distance.
Dunham misses the body punch
and Ramon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ramon wants to clinch.

Ramon closes the distance and pushes Dunham back into the cage.

Dunham takes an elbow to the temple.
Ramon gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Ramon putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Dunham in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ramon misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Dunham.
Ramon lands an elbow just above Dunham 's eye.
Ramon unloads a knee to the mid-section. Dunham lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Ramon breaks from the clinch.
Ramon tries to clinch but Dunham is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ramon throws a quick inside leg kick.

Ramon instigates a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Razor Ramon dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ramon tries a knee to the head but Dunham blocks it.
Dunham tries to circle away but Ramon has him pinned against the cage.

Ramon breaks from the clinch.
Dunham thows a body shot but no joy.
Ramon tried to score with a low kick but Dunham checks it.
A left and a right from Dunham both land. Nice combination.
Dunham misses with a wild combination.
Razor Ramon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ramon scores with a leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ramon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dunham swivels and escapes.
Dunham swings for the body but Ramon moves out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ramon's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Dunham blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Razor Ramon seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Dunham wants to stall.

Ramon manages to break the clinch.
A bone on bone clash there as Dunham blocks the leg kick.
Ramon fails with a takedown attempt.
Ramon lands a leg kick that knocks Dunham off balance momentarily.

Dunham swats away the attempt to clinch by Ramon.

Dunham circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dunham is looking to wear down Ramon with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
No luck for Ramon with that takedown attempt.
Frank Dunham has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Razor Ramon.
Ramon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ramon dives in and grabs Dunham's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dunham pushes down on Ramon's head and hops out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Razor Ramon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Dunham fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ramon manages to avoid it.

Ramon creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Dunham's defenses.

Ramon takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Ramon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dunham's waist but Dunham gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ramon off to one side.
Frank Dunham has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Razor Ramon.

Ramon throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Ramon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Dunham cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ramon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Ramon is looking to slow Dunham down with leg kicks.
Ramon tries for a takedown but Dunham sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Dunham counters with a one-two to the body.
Razor Ramon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Razor Ramon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ramon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
