Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Bolinev!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bolinev tests Alves's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Alves shoots for a double leg takedown but Bolinev sprawls well. He's pushed Alves's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bolinev throws the left hand but Alves avoids the punch easily.
Alves fails with the takedown
and Bolinev counters with a left to the body.
Alves gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bolinev counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Bolinev makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Bolinev jabs Alves to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Nick Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slow jab from Bolinev misses its intended target.

Bolinev takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Alves seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bolinev does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Bolinev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bolinev is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

and Alves takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Bolinev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bolinev connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

A decent looking cross lands there for Bolinev.

Bolinev shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Let's hope that Bolinev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Alexander Bolinev wasn't active enough on the ground.

Alves is looking to stand up but Bolinev isn't so interested in that idea.

Alves wants to hit a switch here but Bolinev passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Alves there!

Alves is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bolinev is landing with some decent strikes but Alves is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Bolinev looking to control but Alves is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Alves on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Alves tries to get out of the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Alexander Bolinev hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Bolinev closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Alves's guard.

Bolinev wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.
Bolinev lands a couple of elbows.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bolinev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Alves has his foot on Bolinev's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bolinev works his way back into a safe position though.

Bolinev not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Alexander Bolinev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Alves escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bolinev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Alves bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bolinev's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Bolinev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bolinev is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bolinev throws a looping overhand right but Alves ducks down to avoid it.

Bolinev is looking to advance position but Alves won't allow it.
Alves wants to control but Bolinev is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Nick Alves has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bolinev seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bolinev's corner calls for a 1-2. Bolinev obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Alexander Bolinev is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Alves fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Well Bolinev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
