Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lyotoson Machsilva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Facundo Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lyotoson Machsilva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lyotoson Machsilva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Facundo Mendez! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machsilva drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Machsilva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Machsilva tries for a kimura but Mendez is defending well. Machsilva stands up and beckons Mendez to his feet. Mendez fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Machsilva checks it well. Machsilva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mendez.
Mendez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Machsilva on the side of the head. Mendez scores with a three punch combo!
Machsilva is rocked! Mendez looks to score with a jab to the body but Machsilva is just out of range. Oh Machsilva is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Mendez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Machsilva seems to have got his legs back now. Machsilva closes the distance and clinches up with Mendez, looking for a takedown. Machsilva pushes Mendez against the cage but Mendez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Machsilva moves away. Machsilva shoots in but no luck this time. Mendez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mendez lands in his opponent's guard. Machsilva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mendez's guard. Machsilva postures up.
Mendez had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Machsilva is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mendez Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Machsilva's back instead. Mendez has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Machsilva tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Machsilva has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Mendez working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Mendez looks gassed! Mendez tightening his grip on Machsilva, looking for the choke. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. You can see the frustration on Machsilva's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Machsilva just trying to survive but Mendez is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Mendez is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Machsilva knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Machsilva for a finish. Machsilva is in bad spot here.

Machsilva distracts Mendez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Machsilva wants to control from the top but Mendez keeps moving. Machsilva closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mendez to the mat! Mendez manages to get full guard. Mendez working for a triangle but Machsilva defends it easily.
Machsilva passes Mendez's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Machsilva is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Machsilva wants to take a breather but Mendez is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendez is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Machsilva pulls his head out easily. Mendez is breathing heavily. Mendez keeping control of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez wants to get back to full guard. Mendez is looking to control Machsilva's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mendez avoid being mounted? Machsilva wants to work for an arm triangle but Mendez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Machsilva tries to advance to mount but Mendez instead regains half guard. Machsilva is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Mendez still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Mendez has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Facundo Mendez has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Machsilva regains half guard. Machsilva wants to get back to full guard. Mendez is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Machsilva has managed to free his arm - good work. Mendez works his way into side control. Mendez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Machsilva, who protects the arm well. That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez working away. Mendez tries for a kimura but Machsilva is defending well. Mendez is working to tighten is grip on Machsilva's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Machsilva has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Mendez is really squeezing tight and eventually Machsilva passes out! Mendez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
