Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lyotoson Machsilva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machsilva drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Machsilva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Mendez fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Machsilva checks it well.
Machsilva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mendez.
Mendez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Machsilva on the side of the head.

Mendez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mendez lands in his opponent's guard.
Machsilva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mendez's guard.

Mendez had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Machsilva is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mendez Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Machsilva's back instead.

Machsilva is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Mendez still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Mendez has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Machsilva has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Mendez is really squeezing tight and eventually Machsilva passes out! Mendez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
