Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Pearmine! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Hamish Gaffney! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gaffney looking to score a takedown here. Pearmine is defending well but Gaffney drives through and ends up in Pearmine's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Gaffney is working Pearmine over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Gaffney keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pearmine's head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gaffney content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Pearmine escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gaffney gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pearmine is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pearmine is breathing heavily. Gaffney lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Gaffney scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Gaffney lands a couple of elbows. Gaffney wanted to stand there but Pearmine had control of the position. Gaffney must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Gaffney gets to his feet and stands over Pearmine, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Pearmine felt that one! Gaffney unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Pearmine from any more punishment!
