Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Genius Ree (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Michael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Genius Ree!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Michael!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Alyssa Summers and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michael throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ree scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Ree shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Michael keeping hold of Ree's head, controlling as best he can.

Ree throwing shots but Michael is blocking nicely.
Ree has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ree is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Michael doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ree.

Ree is trying to work for a kimura but Michael is defending well.

Ree tries to pass the half guard into mount. Michael knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ree in particular looking to stall.
Michael wants to control but Ree is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ree fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Michael has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A head kick from Michael lands but Ree takes it in his stride.
Michael shoots in for a takedown but Ree shows good takedown defense.
Michael throws a body kick that misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ree looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ree shoots in for a takedown but Michael shows good takedown defense.

Michael closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ree's guard.
Ree not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ree wants to sweep but no luck.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Michael slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Michael fails with a takedown attempt.
Genius Ree is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Michael defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ree.

Ree feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Michael is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ree is aware though and is defending well.

Ree gets to his feet - Michael follows without any prompting.
Ree stuffs the takedown attempt from Michael. Michael gets slowly back to his feet.
Genius Ree has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Michael.

No luck for Ree with that takedown attempt.
Ree goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Nice takedown defense from Michael. No joy for Ree on that attempt.
Ree doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Michael looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Ree gets a clinch.
Michael is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ree is defending well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Michael fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Ree gets control of Michael's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ree will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Ree wants to stand up but Michael is controlling him.

Michael stands up from Ree's guard - Michael perhaps looking for a knockout.
Michael misses with a two punch combination.

Michael leaves Ree with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ree throws a right and a left that both miss.
Michael tries to clinch but Ree is having none of it.

Michael takes the fight into the clinch.

Michael pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ree gets a clinch.
Michael has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ree avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Genius Ree dominated that second round.
That's time! Ree's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Ree connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Michael's hands.
Ree fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Michael manages to avoid it.
Michael tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ree tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Michael gets caught napping as Ree dives in and scores a takedown. Michael manages to retain guard.

Michael working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ree doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ree manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ree is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Genius Ree.
Ree doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Michael counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Michael working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Michael is looking to take a break and control but Ree is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Michael decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Ree takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Michael.

Michael shoots in but Ree avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Genius Ree has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Michael.
Ree throws a front kick that sends Michael stumbling back into the cage.

Michael pushes Ree up against the cage in a clinch.
Michael tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ree just stands there and leans against the cage.

Ree pulls guard successfully.

Ree looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Michael wants to control from the top but Ree keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to David Michael.
Well Ree has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
