Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Putnam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Santz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Putnam might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to tap out. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jose Santz enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronnie Putnam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Santz! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santz lands with a right hand. Putnam drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. A punch combination from Santz misses. Santz lands a glancing blow to the side of Putnam's head. Putnam takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Putnam shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Santz but Santz pushes him off and we're back to square one. Santz throws a right and a left that Putnam avoids nicely. Santz lands a nice looking body shot.
Santz tries to bum rush Putnam with a series of wild strikes but Putnam uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Santz throws out a powerful jab. Santz looks to land a combination but Putnam avoids it well. Putnam fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Putnam tries a head kick but it misses.
A punch lands to the side of Putnam 's head but he takes it in his stride. Putnam shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Putnam is looking to advance position but Santz won't allow it. Putnam uses his free foot to push down on Santz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Santz. Santz avoids a series of strikes thrown by Putnam.
Putnam with shots to the head and body - Santz looks very uncomfortable down there. Putnam takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Putnam can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Santz is looking to escape. Putnam punching from mount but Santz doing a good job of avoiding damage. Putnam controlling from mount. This has been an exciting period of action! Santz tries to lock up and control but Putnam gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Santz is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Putnam landing shots from mount. Santz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Putnam can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Santz is looking to escape. Putnam looking to finish Santz with some ground and pound. This is bad for Santz! Putnam controlling the pace for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Santz that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Santz is looking to improve his position but Putnam isn't that keen on the idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Putnam controlling from mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Putnam stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Putnam closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Santz quickly recovers to half guard. Well, if Putnam is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Putnam sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Santz defending well though. Putnam wants to work for an arm triangle but Santz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Putnam is taking a breather. Santz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Putnam wants to get back to his feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Ronnie Putnam wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. A punch combination from Santz misses. A combination from Santz does no damage. A jab from Santz does it's job there. Putnam takes one on the button. Putnam tries a head kick but it misses.

Putnam wants the takedown. Santz is fighting it off but Putnam persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Santz's guard against the cage. Putnam wants to control from the top but Santz keeps moving. Putnam controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Santz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Ronnie Putnam overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Putnam controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Ronnie Putnam dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Santz throws a right and a left that Putnam avoids nicely. Putnam throws a solid leg kick but Santz takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Putnam. A jab from Santz does it's job there. Putnam shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Santz as he avoids it easily. Santz stuffs the takedown attempt from Putnam. Putnam gets slowly back to his feet. Putnam closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Santz quickly recovers to half guard. Putnam performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Putnam seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Santz slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Ronnie Putnam is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Santz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Putnam moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Santz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Putnam drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Putnam wants to pass the guard but Santz is keeping the position. Putnam forces his way into half guard. Jose Santz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Putnam is figuring out what he wants to do next. Putnam's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Santz is looking to control Putnam's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Santz avoid being mounted? Ronnie Putnam is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Putnam seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Santz for as long as he can get away with.

And that's the end of the fight! Ronnie Putnam showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Putnam, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
