PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between HeavyWeight Prizefighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Random Task (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Prizefighter comes to the cage accompanied by Under and Over it by ffdp. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, HeavyWeight Prizefighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Random Task!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prizefighter stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Prizefighter punishes Task's body with a nice straight punch.
Prizefighter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Prizefighter uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Task.
Task throws a lazy body kick
and Prizefighter counters with a leg kick.

Prizefighter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Task throws an elbow but it misses.
Task fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Task blocks a body shot from Prizefighter.
Prizefighter lands an elbow that stopped Task in his tracks for a moment.
Prizefighter taking a breather.
Task lands a body punch in the clinch.
Task throws a head punch that misses.
Prizefighter tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Task breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Prizefighter takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Task looks to land a left hand but Prizefighter moved out of range nicely.
Task takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Random Task seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Prizefighter scores with a jab. Task acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Task misses with an uppercut
and Prizefighter counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Task's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Task duly obliges.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Task takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Prizefighter is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

That kick from Task tenderised Prizefighter's leg. Prizefighter is trying to keep his angry face on.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Task lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Prizefighter has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Prizefighter and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Task throws a lazy right hand but Prizefighter sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Task comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Task fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Task misses with a two punch combination.

Task defending well as Prizefighter loads up on a big left hand.
Prizefighter avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Task lands a nice looking kick to the body. Prizefighter takes a step back to recover.
Task misses with an uppercut.
Task throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Prizefighter moves away from the strike by Task.
Task bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Prizefighter's head.
Task throws a leg kick which misses Prizefighter's front leg but catches the back leg as Prizefighter tries to avoid it.
Task misses with a looping right.
Prizefighter ducks under a wild hook from Task.

Prizefighter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Prizefighter rushes Task and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Task breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Prizefighter moves out of range of the strikes.
Prizefighter connects with the punch.
Task misses with a series of wild punches.
Prizefighter avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Prizefighter is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Task connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Random Task is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Task misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Prizefighter to counter with a crisp jab.
Nice defenses there by Prizefighter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Random Task dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Task is looking for a sweep. Prizefighter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Task has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Prizefighter is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Task working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Prizefighter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Prizefighter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Prizefighter throws an elbow that misses. Task uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Prizefighter's guard. Nice move by Task!

Prizefighter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Prizefighter has Task pulled in close to control his posture.
Task trying to stand up but can't free himself from Prizefighter's guard.
Prizefighter looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Task wants to stand but Prizefighter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Prizefighter looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Task passes into half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

HeavyWeight Prizefighter dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

and Prizefighter counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Task throws a big shot that misses.

and Prizefighter counters with a nice low kick that buckles Task's knee momentarily.
Task walks into a stiff left hand from Prizefighter.

Task takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Task misses with a low kick.
Task is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Task dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Prizefighter. That did some damage!
Task is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Prizefighter.
Task lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Prizefighter tries to clinch up but Task circles away and keeps his distance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Prizefighter counters with a single leg into guard. Task didn't expect that.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Task has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Prizefighter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Prizefighter throws an elbow that misses. Task uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Prizefighter's guard. Nice move by Task!
Prizefighter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Prizefighter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Task!
Task is in a horrible position here. Prizefighter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Prizefighter wants to control the pace but Task is squirming around nicely.
Task is working to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to HeavyWeight Prizefighter.
I think Prizefighter has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
