Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maricue Russel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Shepard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Maricue Russel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Shepard!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shepard as he avoids it easily.
Shepard looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Russel connects with a good right hand that stumbles Shepard. Shepard circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Russel fails to land the takedown.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Russel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Shepard tries to move into range but Russel moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Russel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Russel lands a big elbow.
Shepard is rocked!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shepard can do anything to dispel that myth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Russel is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Russel!
