9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rebel Johnson! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Out does it's job there. Johnson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Out. A left and a right from Out both land. Nice combination. Out misses with a body kick. Out misses with a body shot.
Out throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Out. Out gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Johnson to score an easy takedown into full guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson advances to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Johnson lands a nice short elbow. Johnson is trying for a kimura here. Out looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Johnson wins by kimura!
