Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brodus Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Cain Velasquez has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Cain Velasquez seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cain Velasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brodus Clay! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Velasquez misses the shot to the body. Velasquez closes the distance and clinches up with Clay, looking for a takedown. Velasquez pushes Clay against the ropes but Clay circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Clay closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. Velasquez is looking to take this one to the mat. Velasquez wants the takedown. Clay is fighting it off but Velasquez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Clay's guard against the ropes. Clay looking to hit a scissor sweep but Velasquez is one step ahead there. Clay doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Clay pulls Velasquez in close to prevent any damage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Clay can do anything to dispel that myth. Clay striking off his back but it's not causing Velasquez any problems. Velasquez throws a big right hand that misses. Velasquez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Clay avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Velasquez throws a big elbow that misses. Velasquez is looking to work some ground and pound but Clay has wrist control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Clay trying to keep a closed guard but Velasquez is proving a slippery customer.
Clay looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Clay will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Clay working a defensive guard here.
Velasquez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Clay works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Velasquez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Clay tries to land a sweep but no joy. Clay is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Clay is on top in guard.
Clay working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Clay wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving. Clay is looking to work some ground and pound but Velasquez has wrist control. Velasquez wants to stand up but Clay is controlling him. Clay tries to free his leg and advance position but Velasquez is retaining full guard. Clay looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Brodus Clay was stalling too much, according to the referee. Clay closes the distance and clinches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez is trying to drag Clay to the mat but Clay just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cain Velasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Velasquez is looking to take this one to the mat. Velasquez is breathing heavily. The referee calls for Clay to work.
Velasquez is trying to drag Clay to the mat but Clay just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. Clay is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes. Clay scores with a hook to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Clay lands a body punch. Clay will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Velasquez up against the ropes. Velasquez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Clay pulls his leg out and moves away.
A punch lands to the side of Velasquez 's head but he takes it in his stride. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Clay fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Velasquez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brodus Clay dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Clay tries to clinch there but Velasquez circles away.
Clay lands with a cross.
It looks like Cain Velasquez has been cut. Velasquez takes one to the side of the head.
Clay throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Velasquez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Velasquez throws an off balance right hand
and Clay counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Clay moves into the clinch successfully.
Clay lands a left hand.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Clay gets underhooks to prevent Velasquez's takedown attempt.
Clay stalling in the clinch but Velasquez improves position. The referee calls for Clay to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Clay continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Brodus Clay. Oooooh!!! Clay has knocked Velasquez down with a huge combo! Clay steps away and waves a wobbly Velasquez back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Velasquez is rocked! Clay has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Clay lands a slapping body shot.
Oh Velasquez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Velasquez gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Clay gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Velasquez is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brodus Clay!
