Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tim Taylor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raul Decampo! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taylor scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Taylor wants to land a leg kick but Decampo is out of range. Taylor misses with an uppercut
and Decampo counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Taylor trying to control from the bottom.
Decampo is looking for a kimura but Taylor is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Decampo to get the leverage. Decampo is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Taylor tries to roll over but Decampo keeps him under control. Decampo is thwarting Taylor's attempts to control the position. Taylor regains full guard. Nicely done. Decampo trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Taylor manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Decampo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Taylor defends well. Taylor landing with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Decampo is looking for a triangle but Taylor pushes his legs off easily.
Taylor working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Decampo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Taylor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Decampo is tightening it up a little... Taylor has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Taylor reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Taylor taps out! Nice BJJ there by Decampo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Raul Decampo! In his post fight interview, Raul Decampo started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
