Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mirko Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Milky!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Liddell postures up.
Liddell with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Liddell trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Liddell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Liddell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Milky is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Liddell postures up in Milky's guard and throws a big left but Milky blocks it.
Liddell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Liddell is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Milky wants to stand and escape but Liddell is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Liddell cracks Milky with a solid left hand.
Liddell passes into half guard.
Liddell is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Milky doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Liddell.
Milky is trying to stand up here but Liddell is controlling him well.
Milky trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Liddell looking to isolate an arm here. Milky doesn't see it coming and as Liddell extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Liddell!
