Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Boom! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sasha Tugarinov! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boom drives through and clinches with Tugarinov against the cage.
Tugarinov prevents a body shot from Boom. Boom has clasped his hands together around Tugarinov's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Tugarinov sneaks back into half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Tugarinov taking some punishment here, with Boom in his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boom looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tugarinov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Boom trying to mount his opponent but Tugarinov defends it. Tugarinov looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Boom lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Boom knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tugarinov on the ground. Tugarinov actively working from the bottom here. Tugarinov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Boom scores with a couple of nice shots. Tugarinov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Boom pulls his head out easily. Boom wants to pass to mount but Tugarinov is defending the position. Tugarinov looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Tugarinov looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Boom looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Boom winds up and cracks Tugarinov with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Ground and pound from Boom. Boom lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Tugarinov has hold of Boom's hands but Boom slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Boom landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Boom drops an elbow to the side of Tugarinov's head. Tugarinov looking for submissions off his back. Boom looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tugarinov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Boom connects with a nice short shot to Tugarinov's temple. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Boom working Tugarinov over with strikes. Boom is nestled in close to Tugarinov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Tugarinov has hold of Boom's hands but Boom slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Tugarinov is rocked! Boom looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Tugarinov is still in real trouble! Can Boom finish him? Tugarinov looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boom scoring with strikes to the body and head. Boom scores with a big shot! Tugarinov's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Tugarinov! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
