The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDougall displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Flave.
Good standup being displayed there by Flave as he connects with a hook.
Flave wants to clinch
and McDougall counters with a lovely straight right hand!
McDougall misses with a jab, cross combination.

Flave is trying to get back to half guard.
McDougall is looking to take a break and control but Flave is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McDougall might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Flave kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
McDougall tries to stand but Flave is controlling his head.

McDougall is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Flave has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Flave wants to hold on but McDougall pushes him away.
Flave tries to reverse the position but McDougall maintains control.

McDougall wants to take a breather but Flave is having none of it.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McDougall in particular looking to stall.

McDougall has hold of Flave's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Flave manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Flave tries to lock up and control but McDougall gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters circle momentarily. Flave darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Flave ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Flave wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
McDougall ducks under a wild hook from Flave.
Flave uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McDougall.
Nice uppercut there from McDougall.
McDougall scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Flave throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Flave lands a jab to the head.
McDougall loads up on a big right hand but Flave slips the punch.

Flave takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Flave jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Flave gets caught napping as McDougall dives in and scores a takedown. Flave manages to retain guard.
McDougall must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Flave pushes a forearm under McDougall's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, McDougall is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
