Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malik Sousa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danzig Pander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Malik Sousa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danzig Pander!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Sousa. No joy for Pander on that attempt.
Sousa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pander but Pander pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pander throws a body kick that misses.
Pander cracks Sousa with a good jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sousa.
Sousa scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Danzig Pander has been cut.
Pander shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sousa sprawls well. Sousa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pander gets slowly back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pander shoots in for a double leg but Sousa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Malik Sousa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danzig Pander.
Pander defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sousa.
Pander shoots in and drives through. Sousa sprawls well.

Pander tries to keep at a distance but Sousa has taken the fight into the clinch.

Pander has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sousa after a bit of a struggle.

Sousa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sousa stuffs the takedown.
Sousa lands a glancing blow to the side of Pander's head.

Pander is trying to force a seperation but Sousa has the dominant position.
Pander tries to pull guard but Sousa holds him up against the cage and eventually Pander drops back down to his feet.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Sousa has his foot on Pander's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pander works his way back into a safe position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sousa punching from the bottom - just letting Pander know he's still in a fight.
Pander must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sousa manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pander really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sousa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee warns Pander that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Pander tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sousa manages to capitalize on a mistake by Pander to take his back!
Pander should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sousa has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Pander's body.
Sousa lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Pander is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Sousa trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Pander doesn't escape.

Sousa is looking for the choke from the back position but Pander is controlling his hands well.

Sousa is persistently looking for the submission but Pander is defending it well.
Good control from Sousa.

Sousa has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Pander has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sousa is not going to allow Pander to sit and survive in this position.
You can see the frustration on Pander's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Pander just trying to survive but Sousa is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Sousa looking to break Pander's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Pander remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Sousa will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sousa is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Sousa is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Pander tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pander throws a sloppy head kick

and Sousa moves into the clinch.
Sousa unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Pander drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sousa pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sousa shoots in for a takedown but Pander shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sousa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pander defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Malik Sousa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sousa is defended easily by Pander.

A right-left combo lands from Pander.
Pander fails in his attempt to clinch.
No joy there for Pander, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pander has a takedown stuffed.
Sousa stuffs the takedown.
Pander is breathing heavily.
Sousa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Malik Sousa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sousa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pander is fending him off so far but Sousa persists. Nope, Pander circles away and we're back to standing.

Sousa avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sousa misses with a double jab.
Pander fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
The crowd cheers as Pander lands an impressive looking overhand right. Sousa doesn't seem phased though.

Danzig Pander seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sousa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Pander tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pander has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sousa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sousa throws a left and a right that both miss
and Pander counters with a straight right hand.
Pander shoots in but no luck this time.
Sousa lands a head kick!

Pander uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sousa.

Pander shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sousa but Sousa pushes him off and we're back to square one.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Malik Sousa will probably get the nod.

Pander tries to pull guard but Sousa won't allow it.

Sousa is trying to drag Pander to the mat but Pander just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Pander is looking to break free of the clinch but Sousa has double underhooks.

Sousa manages to pull guard.
Sousa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pander trying to control the position from guard on top but Sousa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sousa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pander throws a strike but Sousa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Sousa lands a couple of digs.
Pander is striking but Sousa is not phased and passes to half guard.
Pander scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Sousa manages to mount him!
Sousa with shots to the head and body - Pander looks very uncomfortable down there.
Sousa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sousa postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Pander looks a forlorn figure.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Pander has eaten all the pies!
Pander looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Pander takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sousa scores with punches from the back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sousa controls the position.

Sousa lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Pander trying to control the position but Sousa manages to sink in the hooks.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sousa is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Pander has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Sousa has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Pander taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Sousa doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Malik Sousa!
