PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fritz Lukens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fritz Lukens told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith scores with a push kick.
Smith keeps the fight on the outside.

Smith fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lukens sprawls well initially but Smith persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lukens looking for submissions off his back.

Lukens is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Smith pulls his head out easily.
Lukens wants to get back to full guard but Smith has mounted him!
Lukens is looking to improve his position but Smith isn't that keen on the idea.
Lukens tries to hold on but Smith pushes him away.

Smith postures up in Lukens's guard and throws a big left but Lukens blocks it.

Lukens manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Lukens moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Smith has worked his arm free - good work by Smith!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith is trying to get back to half guard.
Smith regains half guard.

Lukens is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Smith moves into full guard.

Lukens drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lukens has Smith in his guard.

Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lukens has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Smith should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Lukens has tightened it up now! Smith should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
