Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rolles Rubio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Monika Szlesz! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rubio tries to keep at a distance but Szlesz has taken the fight into the clinch. Szlesz lands a knee to the body.
Szlesz blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Szlesz has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rubio clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Szlesz controlling well, preventing Rubio from escaping the position.
Szlesz is trying to stick to Rubio's back but Rubio is turning into Szlesz. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Szlesz's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Rubio. Rubio wants to control from the top but Szlesz keeps moving. Szlesz keeping full guard, as Rubio tries to pass. Rubio wants to control from the top but Szlesz keeps moving. Rubio is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rolles Rubio wasn't doing enough on the ground. Szlesz throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Szlesz gets a double leg takedown into Rubio's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rubio trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rubio is pulling down on Szlesz's head. It's preventing any offense from Szlesz, at least for the moment. Rubio controls Szlesz momentarily but Szlesz frees himself. Rubio wants to improve his position but instead Szlesz has moved into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rubio is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Rubio gets full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rubio tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rubio working a defensive guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rubio has control of Szlesz's left arm, preventing Szlesz from doing any damage. Szlesz is stalling in the full guard.
Rolles Rubio has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Szlesz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rubio.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rubio gets tackled into the cage by Szlesz. Szlesz maintains the clinch. Knees in the clinch landing for Szlesz.
Rubio tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Szlesz breaks the clinch.
Rubio closes this distance looking for a takedown but Szlesz circles away. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Szlesz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Monika Szlesz dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Szlesz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rubio on his heels. He'll look to pass Rubio's guard now, I'm sure. Rolles Rubio overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rubio trying to keep a closed guard but Szlesz is proving a slippery customer.
Rubio is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Szlesz is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Szlesz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Szlesz works a leg free and moves into half guard. Rubio tries to get to full guard but Szlesz has control of the leg. Rubio is trying to control but Szlesz manages to pass to mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Szlesz prevents Rubio from getting the reversal. Rubio is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Rubio is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Rubio tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rubio is squirming around, avoiding Szlesz's attempts to control the action. Szlesz prevents Rubio from getting the reversal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Szlesz tries to push Rubio's head away but Rubio is holding on tight. Szlesz avoids the attempt from Rubio to control. Rubio working to try and regain half guard.
Rubio tries to hold on but Szlesz postures up. Rubio is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Szlesz wants to control the pace but Rubio is squirming around nicely. Rubio is working to get back to half guard.

Rubio regains half guard. Rubio moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Rubio is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rubio looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Rubio's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Rubio is trying to control the position but Szlesz postures up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rolles Rubio wasn't doing enough on the ground. Szlesz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rubio shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Szlesz but Szlesz pushes him off and we're back to square one. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rolles Rubio dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Szlesz dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Szlesz clinches. Rubio tries to work over Szlesz's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Szlesz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rubio fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Szlesz manages to avoid it. Szlesz throws a nice looking combination but Rubio bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rubio is defended easily by Szlesz.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rubio misses with a head kick.
Szlesz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rubio tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Szlesz is in Rubio's guard. Rubio lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Szlesz! Szlesz is controlling an arm, preventing Rubio from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rubio moves to the back position. Rubio controlling from the back. Szlesz looking very determined here, making life difficult for Rubio.
Szlesz is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Rubio off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Rubio controlling from the back. Szlesz breaks Rubio's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Rubio is adopting a defensive guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Szlesz trying to control but Rubio is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Rubio wants to sweep here but Szlesz controlling him for the moment.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Szlesz looking to score a takedown here. Rubio is defending well but Szlesz drives through and ends up in Rubio's guard. Rubio trying to keep a closed guard but Szlesz is proving a slippery customer.
