Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Olrax Recto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vin Davis! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Recto throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Davis. Recto moves into range and clinches up with Davis. Davis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Recto gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Recto wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Recto is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Davis is defending well for now. Davis tightens his grip and picks Recto up, before dumping him to the ground. Recto manages to land in guard. Davis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Recto has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Davis has managed to get both his arms back between Recto's legs - danger averted. Davis controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Davis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Davis works over Recto with some ground and pound from guard. Davis slips nicely into half guard. Davis with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Davis is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Davis keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Davis takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Davis works his foot free and advances to mount. Recto is trying to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davis has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Recto is forced to tap!
