PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Bunga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Albert Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hall has chosen Mama Said Knock You Out as his entrance music. Albert Hall told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cain Bunga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Albert Hall!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hall gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Bunga wants the takedown. Hall is fighting it off but Bunga persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hall's guard against the cage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Bunga avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Hall is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hall escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bunga gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hall scrambles and gets back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hall shoots in and bounces Bunga off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bunga has a closed guard, preventing Hall from standing up.

Hall wants to stand and escape but instead Bunga has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Bunga got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hall has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bunga has managed to get both his arms back between Hall's legs - danger averted.

Hall is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bunga defends well.
Bunga distracts Hall with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hall is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bunga is aware though and is defending well.
Bunga is pushing down on Hall's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hall is fighting to maintain full guard but Bunga has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hall has one foot on Bunga's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Bunga or perhaps it was just good defense by Hall which made him look bad.

Hall loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Hall wanted to stand there but Bunga had control of the position.

Hall gets to his feet - Bunga follows without any prompting.

and Hall counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cain Bunga. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hall lands a hook that snaps the head of Bunga backwards.

Hall has Bunga pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hall pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bunga tumbling to the mat - Hall dives into Bunga's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hall would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Albert Hall dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hall is looking to stand up but Bunga isn't so interested in that idea.
Hall has momentary wrist control but Bunga slips an elbow through the middle.
Bunga postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Hall is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Bunga rolls with it to try and escape but Hall cranks on the arm and Bunga is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Albert Hall!
