Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paublo Marinez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Doe! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doe displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Doe closes the distance looking to clinch and Marinez counters by moving into the clinch. Marinez is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Doe is defending well. Marinez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Doe is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Doe decides to pull guard. Marinez trying to control the position from guard on top but Doe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Doe wants to stand up but Marinez is controlling him. Marinez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marinez is standing up over Doe. Doe looks to escape but Marinez dives into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Doe can do anything to dispel that myth. Doe prevents Marinez from improving position. Marinez throws a strike aimed at the side of Doe's head but Doe avoids it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marinez decides to stand back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marinez tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Doe moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Doe is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The fight stays on the outside here - Doe looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Marinez cracks Doe with a right hand to the side of the head. Doe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Marinez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. The fight stays on the outside here - Doe looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Marinez looking for a takedown here - he's got it. This has been an exciting period of action! Marinez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Doe dives on top into guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Paublo Marinez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Nice takedown defense from Doe. No joy for Marinez on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paublo Marinez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doe closes the distance and clinches. Marinez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Doe wanted to stand there but Marinez had control of the position. Marinez controlling Doe's posture.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Marinez swats away the attempt to clinch by Doe. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Doe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marinez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Doe has managed to clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Paublo Marinez will probably get the nod. That's time! Marinez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
That kick from Doe tenderised Marinez's leg. Marinez is trying to keep his angry face on. Doe wants to clinch but Marinez slips to the side and Marinez counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Doe tries to clinch up. Marinez shoots in for a double leg but Doe sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Doe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. The fight stays on the outside here - Doe looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Doe tries to close the distance and clinch but Marinez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Marinez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Doe swats him away and circles back towards the center. Doe has closed the distance and engaged Marinez in a clinch.
Marinez lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Marinez has Doe pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Doe manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Marinez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Marinez wants to sweep here but Doe controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marinez is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Marinez stands up from mount. Strange move. Marinez tries to close the distance and clinch but Doe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Marinez wants to clinch up but Doe keeps it at a distance. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Doe, right into the meat.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Doe fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Marinez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Marinez throws a head kick but Doe moves out of range.
Doe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marinez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Doe throws a right and a left that both miss. Doe closes the distance looking to clinch and Marinez counters with a nice double leg into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Marinez passes Doe's right leg, so he's now in half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Marinez gets to his feet - back to striking we go! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paublo Marinez dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Doe stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Doe wants it to stay on the feet. Doe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marinez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Marinez tries to keep at a distance but Doe has taken the fight into the clinch. Marinez taking a breather. Doe tries to land a knee to the head but Marinez blocks with his arms.
Doe is working Marinez over against the cage. Marinez is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Marinez takes a knee to the side of the body. Doe crunches a lovely knee into Marinez's ribcage. Both fighters are breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Doe has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Marinez avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Doe slowing the pace effectively. Doe drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Marinez gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doe lands an elbow that stopped Marinez in his tracks for a moment. Doe crunches a lovely knee into Marinez's ribcage. Doe looking for a takedown. Paublo Marinez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Doe. Marinez wants to break free but Doe has control.
Doe goes for a takedown attempt but Marinez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Doe jumps guard but Marinez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Doe trying to control the position but instead, Marinez has worked for underhooks and has pushed Doe into the cage. Doe unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Marinez works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Marinez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Marinez will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Doe wants to clinch and Marinez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Doe tries to pull guard but Marinez holds him up against the cage and eventually Doe drops back down to his feet.

Marinez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. This has been an exciting period of action! Marinez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Marinez tries to free his leg and advance position but Doe is retaining full guard. John Doe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Paublo Marinez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Doe throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that's the end of the fight! John Doe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Marinez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
