Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mauricio Deli! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kiser Sosa! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sosa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Deli. Sosa looks for the body kick but Deli saw that one coming. Deli shoots in and gets a takedown into Sosa's guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Deli drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Deli jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Sosa throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Deli trying to control the position from guard on top but Sosa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sosa is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Deli missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Deli won't allow Sosa to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sosa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Deli trying to move into half guard but instead Sosa has managed to sweep! Sosa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Deli is keeping the position for now. Deli looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Sosa postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Deli is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sosa, into his guard. Sosa is trying to keep Deli in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sosa is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Sosa is looking to sweep but instead, Deli has passed into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Sosa actively working from the bottom here. Deli looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sosa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Deli is keen to just control but Sosa is a slippery customer. Deli knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sosa on the ground. Deli with the ground and pound but Sosa uses the opportunity to regain guard. Sosa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Deli. Deli wants to control from the top but Sosa keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sosa has an active guard here but Deli has managed to pass into half guard.
Sosa wants to get back to full guard. Sosa gets back to full guard.
Sosa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Deli is aware though and is defending well. Deli chips away with some ground and pound. Sosa keeping moving, preventing Deli from controlling successfully. Sosa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Deli doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Deli manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Deli landing with the ground and pound. Sosa is looking for a triangle here but Deli uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Deli scores with a couple of short elbows. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sosa is working to avoid the ground and pound but Deli connects with a decent elbow. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Deli is chipping away with strikes.
Sosa tries to bench press Deli off him but Deli keeps the position. Sosa is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Deli's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mauricio Deli will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Sosa misses with a body shot.
Horrible takedown by Deli or perhaps it was just good defense by Sosa which made him look bad. Sosa connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Deli. Sosa takes a swing at Deli's ribcage but misses. Sosa is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Deli misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauricio Deli. That's going to take a lot out of him. Deli takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Sosa throws a one two combo.
Sosa with a body punch. A glancing blow. Sosa fails to land with a series of punches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sosa lands a left and a right that send Deli crashing to the mat, dazed. Sosa thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Deli is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round. Deli gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Kiser Sosa! Kiser Sosa seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
