Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clyde Renato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Paru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Renato comes into the arena with Odjbox - The Only One blaring out of the sound system. Paru comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Tropa de Elite, osso duro de roer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Paru! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paru throws a half hearted mid kick. Paru thows a left - swing and a miss! Paru misses with a head kick.
Renato looks to score with a jab to the body but Paru is just out of range. Renato connects with a body shot that sends Paru's belly button to the back. Paru will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Renato swats away the attempt to clinch by Paru. Paru swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Paru shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Renato defends it nicely. Renato scores with the left hand. Paru knows he should have avoided that one. Paru walks into a left hand. Paru closes the distance looking to clinch and Renato counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Renato seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Renato throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Renato has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paru trying to keep a closed guard but Renato is proving a slippery customer.
Renato trying to control but Paru is working from the bottom. Renato content to stall in guard here. Renato throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Renato throws a big elbow that misses. Renato postures up.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Renato gets caught napping as Paru dives in and scores a takedown. Renato manages to retain guard. Renato has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paru can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paru tries to stand but Renato is controlling from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Renato is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Paru throwing strikes but missing. Paru trying to control the position from guard on top but Renato is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Renato throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Paru escapes and throws Renato's legs to the side, diving into side control! Paru working the head and body with strikes. Renato is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Paru off and has taken his back! Renato throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Paru wriggles onto his back under a barage of strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paru is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Renato trying to control but he's not successful this time. Paru tries to hold on but Renato postures up. Paru is looking to improve his position but Renato isn't that keen on the idea. Paru takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. The referee warns Paru that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Renato lands with some strikes. This has been an exciting period of action! Paru is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Renato breaks from Paru's wrist control and lands an elbow. Renato raining down shots from the mount! Renato scoring with strikes but Paru is staying in there. Paru manages to control the position for a moment. BOOM! Renato connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Paru is rocked! Paru holds on to Renato as tight as he can, avoiding damage. Renato lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Paru is still in real trouble! Can Renato finish him? Renato unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Paru wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Renato celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Clyde Renato! A relieved looking Clyde Renato thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
