Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jean Claude Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aftas Ardem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Overeem comes into the arena with Bangarang blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jean Claude Overeem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ardem darts in trying to clinch
and Overeem counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Ardem taking a breather.
A left hand lands to the body for Overeem.
Ardem being controlled against the cage.
Overeem blocks an elbow strike.
With the fighters up against the cage, Ardem throws an elbow but misses.
Overeem with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Ardem stalling in the clinch but Overeem improves position.
Overeem with a knee to the head.
Overeem jumps guard but Ardem turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Ardem misses with an elbow strike.
Ardem is trying to stall.
Overeem lands with a left to the head.
Ardem trying to control the position but instead, Overeem has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ardem into the cage.

Overeem presses Ardem against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
With the fighters up against the cage, Ardem throws an elbow but misses.
The referee is keeping an eye on Overeem - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Overeem breaks the clinch.
A head kick misses from Ardem.
Ardem throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Ardem tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Overeem paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ardem tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ardem cracks the inside of Overeem's front leg.
Ardem throws a sloppy head kick and Overeem moves out of range easily.

Ardem throws a series of punches but Overeem avoids them all with ease.
Ardem swings for the body but Overeem moves out of range.
Overeem slips a straight right by Ardem.
Overeem takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Overeem avoids a kick to the body.
Ardem doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ardem tries to clinch but Overeem moves away
and Overeem counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ardem is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A combination from Overeem does no damage.
Overeem moves into the clinch successfully.
Overeem scores a nice knee to the body.
Ardem looks gassed!
Overeem throws a knee to the head but misses.
Overeem scores a nice knee to the body.
Overeem gets control of Ardem's arms and successfully pulls guard. Overeem will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Overeem manages to escape and get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ardem pivots, looking for a leg kick but Overeem is out of range and Ardem settles back down.
Ardem on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Overeem! Ardem is out on his feet! Overeem rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Ardem is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Ardem is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jean Claude Overeem!
A determined Jean Claude Overeem didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
