Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kid Coke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mahatma Gandhi ! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coke leaves Gandhi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Coke throws a hook but Gandhi avoids it easily. Gandhi shoots in looking for a takedown but Coke manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gandhi 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Gandhi fails with the takedown and Coke cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Kid Coke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mahatma Gandhi . Gandhi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Coke tries to avoid it but Gandhi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Coke to the ground. Coke escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Coke feints and then cracks Gandhi 's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gandhi down. Gandhi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Coke moves away. Gandhi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Coke on his heels. He'll look to pass Coke's guard now, I'm sure. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Gandhi is looking to stand up but Coke won't let him. Coke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gandhi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Coke is trying to control the position but Gandhi postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coke is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gandhi is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Gandhi looking to pass the guard. Coke has control of Gandhi 's left arm, preventing Gandhi from doing any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Kid Coke wasn't doing enough on the ground. Gandhi tries to clinch but Coke is having none of it. Gandhi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Coke's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gandhi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Coke had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gandhi defends it easily. Coke tries to land a sweep but no joy. Coke keeping moving, preventing Gandhi from controlling successfully. Coke tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gandhi tries to free his leg and advance position but Coke is retaining full guard. Coke trying to keep a closed guard but Gandhi is proving a slippery customer.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mahatma Gandhi hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Gandhi shoots in and drives through. Coke sprawls well. Coke thows a left - swing and a miss! Gandhi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Coke's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Coke is pulling down on Gandhi 's head to control his posture. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Gandhi trying to control the position from guard on top but Coke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We're going to have a standup here because Kid Coke wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Coke displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gandhi . Coke ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Coke lands with an uppercut that bounces Gandhi off the cage and back into range. A telegraphed right hand from Coke misses the target. Gandhi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Coke moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Coke defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gandhi . Gandhi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Coke counters with a nice uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gandhi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Coke counters with a right hand to the body. Coke throws a looping overhand right but Gandhi ducks down to avoid it. Gandhi shoots in looking for a takedown but Coke manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gandhi 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Gandhi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Coke. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Coke takes a swing at Gandhi 's ribcage but misses. Gandhi shoots in and drives through. Coke sprawls well. Coke fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mahatma Gandhi will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Coke throws a hook but Gandhi avoids it easily. Gandhi dives in and grabs Coke's left leg, looking for a takedown. Coke pushes down on Gandhi 's head and hops out. Gandhi shoots in for a takedown but Coke shows good takedown defense. Gandhi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Horrible takedown by Gandhi or perhaps it was just good defense by Coke which made him look bad. Kid Coke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mahatma Gandhi . Gandhi with a lazy takedown attempt and Gandhi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Gandhi tries to clinch up but Coke circles away and keeps his distance. Gandhi throws a right hand that Coke ducks under and follows up with a left that Coke also avoids with ease. Gandhi misses with a takedown and Coke counters with a right hand to the body. Gandhi is breathing heavily. Nice takedown defense from Coke. No joy for Gandhi on that attempt. Mahatma Gandhi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Coke buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gandhi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Coke swats him away and circles back towards the center. Coke misses with a straight right. Gandhi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Coke counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Gandhi moves away from the strike by Coke. Coke throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gandhi sees it coming and avoids it easily. Coke swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Coke lands a nice shot that snaps Gandhi 's head back.
Gandhi has a takedown stuffed. A momentary lapse in concentration from Coke enables Gandhi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Coke manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gandhi trying to control but Coke is working from the bottom. Coke has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gandhi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Coke wants to stand and escape but Gandhi is having none of it. Mahatma Gandhi has got the better of the ground game so far. Coke seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Gandhi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Coke bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gandhi 's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Coke looking to pass the guard. Gandhi is trying to keep Coke in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gandhi controlling the position easily from mount. Coke wants to hold on but Gandhi pushes him away. Gandhi working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Coke tries to hold on but Gandhi pushes him away. Gandhi has control of Coke's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Coke regains control of the situation pretty easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gandhi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Coke is looking to escape. Coke is in a horrible position here. Gandhi smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gandhi tries to control but Coke wriggling away. Coke wants to control but Gandhi is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mahatma Gandhi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Kid Coke is winning the standup battle so far. Gandhi shoots in for a takedown but Coke shows good takedown defense. Coke bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Gandhi 's head. Coke bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Gandhi tries for a takedown but Coke sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Kid Coke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mahatma Gandhi .

Coke tries to sprawl out of it but Gandhi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coke manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Gandhi misses with a takedown attempt and Coke counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Gandhi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Gandhi tries for a takedown but Coke circles away easily and Coke counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Coke misses with a straight right. Coke dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Gandhi fails to land the takedown. Coke connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Kid Coke has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gandhi shoots in but no luck this time. Gandhi fails with a takedown attempt. Coke cracks a nice hook into Gandhi 's ribs. Gandhi tries to move into range but Coke moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Coke connects with a body shot that sends Gandhi 's belly button to the back. Gandhi fails with the takedown and Coke counters with a lovely shot to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gandhi fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Gandhi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Coke sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gandhi somewhat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coke lands with a nice body punch. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gandhi is defended easily by Coke. Coke throws a jab when Gandhi was well out of range. Gandhi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gandhi showed some decent athleticism there. Coke wants to get back to full guard.

Gandhi stands up from half guard. Coke lands with a nice body punch. Gandhi drives through with a takedown into Coke's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gandhi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gandhi drops back looking for a leg! Coke is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Coke manages to kick Gandhi off! Gandhi jumps back into Coke's guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Coke throwing short punches from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kid Coke. I think Gandhi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
