Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zaru Kayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rice Pilaf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pilaf has chosen chinese rap as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zaru Kayne! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rice Pilaf! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kayne misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kayne's corner calls for a 1-2. Kayne obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Kayne throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Kayne throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pilaf. Kayne lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Pilaf fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Pilaf shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kayne but Kayne pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kayne. Pilaf shrugs it off though. Pilaf looks gassed! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kayne chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Pilaf walks into a straight right hand from Kayne. Kayne misses with a series of wild punches.
Kayne shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pilaf but Pilaf pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kayne throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Pilaf takes a jab right on the kisser.

Kayne rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pilaf moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kayne misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kayne digs a good body shot into Pilaf's ribs. Kayne throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Pilaf takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Kayne scores with a head kick.
A slapping body kick lands there for Kayne. Kayne misses with a two punch combination.
Kayne throws a right hand that Pilaf ducks under and follows up with a left that Pilaf also avoids with ease. Pilaf throws a right and a left that Kayne avoids nicely. Pilaf misses with a hook. Kayne swinging wilding here.

Kayne throws a sloppy head kick and Pilaf moves out of range easily. Kayne throws a head kick that Pilaf semi-blocks.

It looks like Zaru Kayne has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pilaf closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Kayne tries to escape but Pilaf is in control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pilaf is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kayne is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Pilaf thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. That's three minutes gone in the round. Kayne is looking to get to half guard. Kayne tries to lock up and control but Pilaf gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Pilaf goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kayne turns into him and now he's in Pilaf's guard.
Pilaf wants to hit a switch here but Kayne passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Pilaf there! Kayne sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pilaf is desperately trying to improve his position but Kayne has a good base and remains in mount. Pilaf is squirming around, avoiding Kayne's attempts to control the action. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Kayne controlling the pace for now. Kayne wants to control the pace but Pilaf is squirming around nicely. Pilaf is trying desperately to improve position.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Kayne controlling his opponent. Kayne trying to control but Pilaf is having none of it.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Zaru Kayne just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Pilaf throws a hook to the side of Kayne's head but Kayne sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Pilaf fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Zaru Kayne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rice Pilaf. Pilaf takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Kayne throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Pilaf's head. Kayne scores with a shot to the body.
Kayne throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Kayne scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
That's six minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Pilaf shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kayne as he avoids it easily. A combination from Kayne does no damage. Kayne moves out of range as Pilaf strikes. Zaru Kayne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kayne moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Kayne with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Kayne lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Pilaf throws a jab but it's blocked by Kayne. Kayne scores with a kick to the body.
Kayne defending well as Pilaf loads up on a big left hand. A slapping body kick lands there for Kayne. Kayne throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pilaf's waist but Pilaf gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kayne off to one side. Pilaf takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kayne throws a sloppy head kick and Pilaf moves out of range easily. Kayne lands a really nice looking cross but Pilaf seems unphased.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. Pilaf shoots in for a double leg but Kayne sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Kayne throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pilaf on the side of the head. Kayne plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Pilaf has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Kayne. Kayne fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Kayne pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Pilaf keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Kayne is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Pilaf tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Kayne throws a head kick that misses. Kayne is looking to slow Pilaf down with leg kicks. Kayne throws a right and a left that Pilaf avoids nicely. A punch combination from Pilaf misses. Kayne misses with a double jab
and Pilaf counters with a nice body shot.

Pilaf decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Pilaf wants to pass the guard but Kayne is defending well. Pilaf is working for a kimura but Kayne is defending it quite comfortably.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Kayne is trying to keep Pilaf in close.
Kayne wants to get back to his feet but Pilaf is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Pilaf pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kayne is keeping the position for now. Pilaf drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kayne dives on top into guard. Kayne controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zaru Kayne dominated that round. The cut man is working on Zaru Kayne's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

and Pilaf counters with a shoot takedown. Kayne fights it but they end up in guard. Pilaf tries to free his leg and advance position but Kayne is retaining full guard. Pilaf throws and elbow that misses. Kayne uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pilaf's guard. Nice move by Kayne! There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pilaf is on top in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pilaf drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kayne manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pilaf has Kayne in his guard. Kayne forces his way into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kayne prevents Pilaf from improving his position. Kayne stalling. Pilaf looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Pilaf is looking to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pilaf manages to get to full guard.
Pilaf has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kayne can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Pilaf is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Pilaf is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pilaf looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kayne has picked Pilaf up and slammed him! Pilaf can't keep hold of the triangle and Kayne manages to pass to side control! Rice Pilaf has got the better of the ground game so far. Pilaf manages to get back to half guard. Ground and pound from Kayne. Pilaf looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kayne slows the pace down in half guard. Pilaf is looking to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Kayne wants to stand up but Pilaf is controlling the position.
Pilaf regains full guard. Nicely done. Pilaf is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Pilaf is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Kayne gets to his feet. Pilaf looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Kayne jabs Pilaf right on the nose. Pilaf blinks but takes it well. Pilaf avoids the head kick by Kayne.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Kayne's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Kayne duly obliges. Zaru Kayne is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A jab from Kayne finds it's way through Pilaf's defenses. Pilaf throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kayne. Kayne displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pilaf throws out the jab. Kayne avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Kayne lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Kayne stuffs the takedown attempt from Pilaf. Pilaf gets slowly back to his feet. Pilaf connects with a nice looking jab.
Pilaf misses with a straight left. Kayne ducks right into an uppercut from Pilaf. Pilaf jabs at Kayne's body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pilaf has a takedown stuffed. Pilaf lands with a nice combination. Kayne backs away looking to recover.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Kayne throws a combination that misses and Pilaf counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kayne slips a straight right by Pilaf. Kayne uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pilaf. Kayne scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pilaf doesn't seem bothered though. Kayne tries for a takedown but Pilaf circles away easily and Pilaf counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Pilaf sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kayne defending well though. Pilaf prevents Kayne from standing back up.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. Kayne pushes Pilaf off looking to stand but Pilaf dives back in and keeps control.
Pilaf looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Kayne keeping control of the position. Pilaf thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kayne's head. Pilaf landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Kayne wants to get back to his feet.
Pilaf throwing shots but Kayne is blocking nicely. Pilaf is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kayne doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pilaf.

Pilaf throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pilaf seems to be working for a kimura but Kayne defends the submission attempt. Kayne controlling the position for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kayne falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pilaf counters with a straight right hand. Kayne lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
And that's the end of the fight! Rice Pilaf comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
